5+ months and still no ruling in the Langbord case.

The last brief filed in connection with the two pending motions was filed on 12-16-2009, more than 5 months ago.

Checked the case docket today and still no ruling.

Annoying as heck that the judge is taking so long to rule. Even more annoying is that this lawsuit will soon be 3.5 years old [at the trial court level]; and it has been much longer than that since the Langbords turned possession of the ten Saints over to Uncle Sam for authentication.

The Fenton 1933 Saint dispute lasted almost 5 years from 2-1996 when the coin was seized at the Waldorf until 1-2001 when the civil forfeiture action was settled shortly before a trial was to begin.

Thanks for keeping an eye on this case and reporting back to us. It does seem slow.

Other than the Langbords, why would any of the participants want to bring an end to the matter? "Justice delayed is justice denied."

Oh some civil trials can go on for literally decades and get passed down to heirs. I don't see this one going that long, but it may take awhile. It will set a lot of precedents with the decision - pretty consequential for the long term.

I was wondering if I had missed one of your updates; now I'm wondering if there will ever be an end to this.

I have been told that two more of these coins are owned by a highly connected family in Cincinnati this is only a rumor but I think it highly likely because the family are direct decendents of a former post turn of the century president. So depending on how this case goes we could see two more of these rarity's.

That health care bill got slipped in for ALL the people. The precedence being set on speedy trials for the people shows the lack of good judgement in this and many cases.
  • Bet something like that will take 3-5 years....

Makes one wonder how much 'behind the scenes' manuevering is going on..... I find it hard to believe that all is just 'fermenting' in legal minds. Cheers, RickO

Would it be inappropriate for you to send a note to the judge reminding him of this case and that a forum of coin geeks are waiting for his answer? image
