Does it bother you when you post a photo of a coin and you recieve PM's asking to buy it?

Personally it doesn't bother me at all, to the contrary, at least I know that I own a coin that other people would like to own.

You should be flattered that you have a coin that others covet.

  • I see nothing wrong with it
  • I hope it does not bother anyone- I have picked up a few coins by PM'ing people that post coins... I have an offer out right now to a guy who consistently posts a set of coins... I make offers on a lot of coins that people post pictures of....

Doesn't bother me at all... just say no if you are not interested in parting with the coin.

I never really thought about this before.

But, I do remember thinking about some of the picture posted coins..

I usually just say to keep me in mind if you ever want to sell. A few times I've receive offers to sell me a coin several weeks or months later.

Doesn't bother me a bit, I look at it as a complement. Sometimes I well sell the coin if the price is right...

This coin I have had many, many offer on but it's sure not for sale. But I've got to say, it's probably the most beautiful 1926 MS-66 buff I've ever seen, and it took me forever to find it. It's the eye appeal that does it to me. Lets see some others that have brought offers for fellow collectors...

I love it. Lots of people here tend to be nice in threads, and may compliment so-so coins on the grounds that if the owner is happy that's all that matters (and that's not always a bad thing). But when you can get a message from someone you respect putting money on the line to compliment the coin, that's a great feeling. It's no different than doing show and tell at a show and having someone ask how much. As a bonus, I now know who to contact should I ever need to sell anything quickly, since I know who wants many of my nicer pieces.

It's never happened to me....In fact, I have some coins for sale listed on the BST right now and not a single comment OR offer on any of them...and I am dirt cheap for quality (modern) product...

The reason I asked, is that I PM'd someone a few weeks ago about a coin I was interested in, and never heard anything yay or nay. I thought that maybe I offended the person.

No bother at all, that is one of the things that the PM function does very well. Not hearing from
someone you PM'd might just mean they have not checked in a while. With some of the
"personalities" on the boards, if you offended someone, you would hear about it. Quickly.

I've PM'd a few posters regarding a coin post. Their replies never seemed as if they were offended. In fact, I got valuable leads on who else may have one. I thought it was just good thinking.

It has happened to me twice and I was certainly not offended. One for a heavily toned MS 65 Barber quarter and the other for a VF25 R-5 Fugio, both in PCGS plastic.

I have pm'd members before and said something like"if you ever decide to sell it I'd be a buyer"and I have posted a newp before and received offers that turned out to be big profits.I see no harm with this practice.

I get pms quite often from people asking to buy the coins in my signature block, as well as several of the other coins I post here, and I don't mind at all. I just politely but seriously tell them that the coins from my personal collection are truly not for sale - unless I find a better one, which doesn't happen very often.
