Do you tell your spouse when you buy PMs?

Borrowing from Perry's post on the coin forum.

I do sometimes. But we keep separate finances. So as long as I'm still able to pull my share of the household budget, we're both pretty much free to buy what we want, when we want.

My wife said, "next time you buy gold it had better be in the form of a necklace."

Short answer: nope. But when delivery slips are at the house she figures it out - she gets home and the mail before me.

She knows of them, she doesn't know the specifics of each transaction.

I always do (she's at home and gets the mail), but I usually lie on the price I paid! image

Anyway, I started sharing some articles about the SHTF scenarios and she is now pushing me to buy more gold! image

  • I think the better question to ask is, does your wife tell you every time she buys shoes?

As far as mine not all the time. Usually when I want to make a large buy. But 1/10 age here a 5 oz. Silver bar there no.
Many buy and sell transactions. Let's talk!

I always tell her...But, I usually wait until the price has moved positive, so it becomes a pleasant surprise.

Spouse is informed on every large purchase 1 oz of gold or more. If purchase is for 10 oz of silver or less don't always tell. Sometimes we'll go to local B&M together, spouse wants to buy everything, gotta keep spouse under control. image

I see it as a must. My wife and I are more than just best friends, we are also a "team" and you know what they say about "I"s in team! In my view, she has every right to be involved in all major financial transactions. Im also in an enviable position where she earns about the same as me, so it would be irresponsible not to include her as I spend "our" money. As far as her real involvement in the aquisition process, its minimal. I think she trusts my instincts, and she is on board with the possibility of a bleak outlook in regards to the current monetary system. Furthermore, she is really old school as she comes from a very poor country. Since stockpiling precious metals is almost the same as saving money, she has embraced it with open arms.

I tell her about my latest "investment" in gold or silver right after I explain the evils of inflation. I think it helps that my wife actually likes gold and silver more than I do.
