CC Special Results 1879 IHC MS66RB w/ Trueview

I have enjoyed reading the message boards and have decided to join in. My father and I are co-owners of this 1879 Indian Cent MS 66RB that we sent in for the for the CC Special. The coin was already in a 66RB holder but I was hoping this coin would get a "+" because the surfaces, lustre and toning are amazing! IMO it is in the top 20% of the grade. I hope the Trueview pics shows up in the post. All opinions are welcomed...... Do you think this should have received a "+"?

(from my view it deserves an outright 67!!)

That's a good way to start your time on the forum, eh?

I'm with the MS67 crowd. A 66plus would be a bit of an insult to that coin. I have seen few better!

Brother, that coin is beautiful. Welcome to the boards too.
Welcome to the boards. Nice first post.
Heck of a nice coin. I can't really tell 66 from 67 from the pic, but I sure don't see anything in my mind that keeps it from that. Hence at a minimum I'm in the "+" crowd.

Maybe it needs another "+" $65, eh?

That's a beauty Joe!
Some folks feel a plus is harder to earn on a high grade coin. So don't be disappointed. It's a lovely coin regardless.
And welcome to the board.

Whether your coin is a 6 or a 7 depends on its eye appeal, because I don't see any contact marks, carbon spots, etc. You need good eye appeal for a type coin to get into a 6 holder. It has been my experience that the powers that be often allow a contact mark in a non-grade sensitive area. But the eye appeal must be superior to get it into a 7 holder.
Plus or no plus, a superior type coin for the grade will bring a premium. Personally, I wouldn't submit the coin unless I thought it was a shot coin.

And welcome!
Thanks for the post and congrats on the grade. If there was to be any 66+ IHC this should be the prime example (if not a 67).
<< <i>Stunning IHC. Now what's the "+" mean again?
Maybe it needs another "+" $65, eh? >>
Maybe that's the problem?? There wasn't $65 to begin with as it was sent under the special.
