This is what the front of a U.S. Mint vault seal looked like in the 1940s-1970s.
Note the description of contents and the odd items found in the vault.
The back was attached to a band of heavy cotton with the US Mint name woven into the fabric. Hard wax seals fixed the band to the certificate and sealed the ends so that the vault could not be opened without destroying the seal or band.
