Does anyone here geocache and have you ever placed coins in your own caches?

Just curious. I've got a couple low grade, common date Morgans I would like to put in my own caches for the First To Find. Has anyone else done anything similar or found coins in caches? They'd obviously be rather worthless widgits but it would still be cool to see some silver coin in a cache.
I've never found a coin in a cache.

I know of geocache. I haven't tried it yet with my kids but was thinking we'd give it a try this summer. I have an app on my iphone. Hopefully I can find your cache first! image

    It's like high tech "hide-and-seek".
Hide stuff and find it with GPS and clues.
  • Never did myself but my friend and his wife do and I gave them a raw MS63/64 1883 CC Morgan to put in a cache he was looking for in Northern Ca. From what I get, when you find the cache you take what you find and then replace it with something else.

I did some, but every time the bank guards objected.

My kids and grandkids do this all over the country.
I've found a few with them and I have to admit coins would REALLY surprise and delight a few folk.

I placed Bison Nickles (the new ones) and 1959 NATO 4 Cent Stamps into a few geocaches in Belgium.

For a challenging one, try Lost Bridge in Sterrebeek, Belgium. You need to go out to the middle of the remaining frame of on old bridge, not real high or long, but falling into the shallow stream 4 meters below would not be nice.

I have found two while metal detecting... left them there... no coins. Cheers, RickO

I did it before with a neighbor and his and my kids. It is fun, and a neat way to spend time with your kids.

And no I didn't think of putting in an old dime or cent. But thats a really cool idea.
If I say something in the woods, and my wife isn't around. Am I still wrong?
