What's the group consensus on this one? (NEWP)

I recently picked this one up for a rather lofty price over PCGS's price guide value, was it worth it?

What are your thoughts on the color? Grade?

It is housed in a PCGS OGH.

Undoubtedly NT. Very nice. Possibly dipped in the past.

The color looks pretty, but I can't imagine the coin wasn't dipped.

    Agree with this.
Now, "was it worth it?"....hmmmm, only you know that.
Plan to keep? Flip? I don't know the series, so I don't know if they are generally pricing above guide anyway, but if someone needs it, and likes color, it may well be worth it.

We don't know how much you paid so how can we determine if it was worth it?

Probably cleaned long ago and then retoned for a long time in an album.

    Was it worth it?

    My opinion: no.

More difficult to definitevely decipher by the obverse, but the reverse is much more obvious of an old dipping. Regardless of that, I think it's a very pretty coin with loads of eye appeal. Nice pick up!

How can you say no when he never said what he paid for it?

He said he paid over book for it. Would you have paid over book for it?

How could it be an aspiring doctor when it is in an OGH? Perhaps an early work of one of the current specialists? FWIW, I like it... even if it has been dipped and doctored. Not sure what the book is on this or the current grade, so it is difficult to assess if it was worth the price paid.

I like the toning a lot. If you really like the toning, I can see paying a tiny amount over PCGS retail. The problem with toned coins, is that some people like the toning, while others do not. Most of my Classic Commemoratives are blast white, so all the design details show.

That coin was part of my toned 1/2 dime date set a couple years ago. Very nice!

    Very attractive, worth a premium!

My opinion is the coin is worth a premium and very much market acceptable and desirable to many. I like the tone a lot and would have little doubt the it is NT an old album coin I would imagine.
