A little off topic, but looking at this nickle I really appreciate the date along the rim and in a larger font. I wish more coins did the date this way, I'm tired of squinting when my magnifying glass is not handy.
Groovy! I thought this would be a napkin thread. Haha.
I haven't gotten a Warnick in change for several years either, but I used to get them quite often. One time I lucked into several rolls of early nickels at a convenience store. The clerk gave me my change and there was a war nickel in it, so I asked him what else was in the drawer. When that revealed a couple more, I had him get the rolls out of the safe. It was a time delay safe so we had to wait a few minutes every time it spat out a roll, but it was worth it. I ended up with three or four rolls of early Jeffs, as I recall. All of the coins were early and all were dirty and a bit greasy, like they'd been in the bilge of a boat. But the rolls were mostly war nickels.

<< <i>Strong strike and nice step.
Made me laugh!
The name is LEE!
.......so the sauce thing did nothing for ya!......I got feelings too......
Amazing what a circulated War Nickel looks like today vs. a BU one out of a collection.
