Looks real to me. Interesting write-up and translation in the listing.

Stack's writeup. It's not "really" a Libertas Americana medal. Still an interesting piece, though.

Stack's write-up of one the the Libertas Americana medals in the John J. Ford sale said the dies for the medal were lost during the revolution in France. It looks like this is an entirely different obverse die.

Yes it's real, but that one is cleaned and messed up. It's actually the Lyon Convention medal, and only reason why any U.S. collectors would have an interest in it is because Walter Breen included in his half cent book as a possible inspiration for the Pole to Cap design that appeared on early U.S. cents and half cents. I sold one years ago to a well known dealer for $500, but my piece was original and blew that one out of the water.

In recent years I have been working on a set of British coins - at least one coin from each king or queen who issued pieces that are collectible. I am also collecting at least one coin for each Roman emperor from Julius Caesar to ... ?
