What ESPN analysts should be canned?

Here are some that annoy me in particular: Dana Jacobsen (terrible softball interviews), Rachel Nichols (couldn't pass a high school journalism class), Colin Cowherd (looks like an elf + states extreme positions to get attention), all those newspaper guy clowns on that show at 5:00 who are given 30 seconds too many on any given topic, and many more!

I have always thought Cowherd was a smart guy, but I have not watched him on BBT.

Cowherd is one of my favorites. I find he has fresh takes rather than just repeating what everybody else says over and over and over.

I use to listen to Cowherd on the radio. Usually enjoyed his shows and found his views interesting. They have changed around our local sports radio stations, so I'm not sure when they play his show in our area these days.

I've always remembered a particular show where he was describing the most obnoxious and annoying fan bases (all sports)--and he was pretty much 100% right in describing them and telling why.

For some reason, it is mainly the NFL coverage guys (as a whole) that are most annoying to me on ESPN. Some of them are OK, but at least half of them seem like a-holes.

I also watch the 5:00 PM shows. I like PTI better than Around the Horn--but Woody Paige usually makes me laugh at least once every show.

I collect Vintage Cards, Commemorative Sets, and way too many vintage and modern player collections in Baseball (180 players), Football (175 players), and Basketball (87 players). Also have a Dallas Cowboy team collection.
  • PTI is good, but around the horn bugs me. Don't know Cowherd that well but his TV show justs seems artificial/too polished, plus like I said, he looks like a hobbit from Lord of the Rings

I've only seen Cowherd TV show once (very recently)--and it was more "corny" than his radio show used to be. Not sure if was just a bad episode, as it is the only time I have seen his TV show. He had some female co-host and they were trying to be a funny comedy duo--it wasn't working.

Joe Morgan. Great player, probably a great guy, but a horrible color analyst.

Kornheiser. Horrible on MNF, and his PTI schtick jumped the shark 2 years ago. + the nasty comments about Hannah Storm were just unprofessional.

Dana Jacobsen and that other flake on "Cold Pizza" or whatever the hell they call it now. Of course, what else are you going to put in that garbage time slot for sports.

Stuart Scott. Annoying as hell, especially the "ghetto" talk.

Can't think of any others. For the most part, I like ESPN, probably 'cause I am a sports junkie.

Cowherd should be one of the last people standing at ESPN.

John Clayton. He definitely has a face for the radio and a voice for the newspapers. I bet that guy couldn't throw a football 5 yards.

He is a dweeb, but his NFL knowledge is pretty deep. Then you have Mel Kiper and his fabulous hair. Rachel Nichols is probably low person on the NFL totem pole, but she really isn't that bad.

Also, I am sure many would like Dick Vitale to keel over, but he IS Mr. College Basketball, and his annoying ways are almost endearing.

You guys are completely insane. Colin Cowherd is one of the worst people on the air in any sports position. I don't care if you like his personality or that he has weird positions...

HE DOESN'T KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT SPORTS

I hear more knowledgeable people on this board than him. He knows one thing - college football. He can talk semi-authoritatively about Seattle sports, but c'mon. To listen to him talk about the NBA, MLB, golf, the NHL or anything else is like Chinese water torture. If he's the only thing on, I turn the TV or radio off.

    edited to add that...
if you're not a rabid sports fan, I can see why you may enjoy a show like his...but I hate listening to anyone that knows less than me on a major media outlet.

  • Joe Morgan? C'mon, he is a great color man! A little out of date but he's Joe Morgan! As for John Clayton, yes he is the epitome of a dweeb but is knowledgeable about the NFL and does his HW so he is EXACTLY who espn should hire. I agree with VITO that Cowherd needs the pinkslip
  • Mel Kiper draft expert for President of the United States
  • College footballl-wise, Andre Ware is awful. "Personality" wise, Skip Bayliss is even worse.

Joe Morgan does not bring much to the table and S. Scott's act is very tiring.
  • You do have to give Stu Scott credit for bringing "Booyah" into common usage image

ESPN's SportsCenter talent has largely gone downhill across the board. I have a hard time watching it, especially the guys that are on the west coast.

Would they PLEASE TAKE THE SCORE TICKER OFF THE BOTTOM OF THE SCREEN WHEN YOU'RE WATCHING A GAME. There's a millions options to get scores/news while you're watching a game. WHEN IS SOMEONE OTHER THAN NBC GOING TO FIGURE THIS OUT.
    Enjoy your collection!

I don't mind it that much, but didn't the score ticker only run at :26 and :56 past the hour? They could do something where they run through it once every 10 minutes or something.
  • Speaking of bringing nothing to the table......Desmond Howard on their college football show is there just to break up the color scheme

I'm shocked he isn't on everyone's list. I liked him 25 years ago, but unlike him, I've evolved. He's absolutely got to go!!!!
