Why don't you allow your user profile (glasses icon) to be seen?

Many have their profile public,
maybe with just their first name,
but many don't.
Why don't you allow your profile to be seen?
You can write whatever you want in the profile anyhow.

I am not a dealer and I value my privacy a great deal...maybe I'm just paranoid.
If I get to know you through this forum or at shows or whatever, then I will share my personal contact information with you.
But anyway...
Hi. My name is Mark.
you could just put Mark, and your state,
it just makes it easier for us with less than excellent memories.
....many may be parole violators!!

Done.
P.S.---I've been accused of being paranoid but I prefer to think of it as being prudent.

<< <i>No Idea. I figure if the bad guys want my info that they have other means of getting more important stuff than what I have in my profile. >>
....you're right about that, ben. you can find out more than you want on google.

And I will note that when dealing on the BST it might make people a little leery of dealing with you if it is private. I have passed on a few listings.
I personally believe that a public profile for every forum member should be compulsory.

Especially since the info in my profile is fake anyway.

Do you really believe that security concerns aren't a legitimate reason? Some of us prefer to not be burglarized.

<< <i>Mine has always been visible. I have not been bothered at all. I respect each individuals decision regarding this, but feel that it is overly paranoid not to have a profile visible. After all, there is no real significant personal details, and all sections are voluntary. Cheers, RickO >>
If "there is no significant personal details" in your profile, then does it really matter if your profile can be seen or not? Also, with a M1911 as your avatar, it's unlikely anyone will try to rob you.

Considering that the profile page doesn't ask for any overly sensitive information, "security reasons" is merely a convenient excuse for everything.

So it's essentially useless. It's easy enough to figure out someone's average posts per day. I live in Maryland. What else would my profile have that anyone could possibly care about?
