1964 Gas

In 1964, my grandfather had 2 quarters in his pocket. He used 1 of them to buy a gallon of gas. He placed the other in his nightstand. I found that quarter yesterday. It contains $3.24 worth of silver. I think i'll go buy a gallon of gas for the exact same amount my grandpa did 46 years ago!!!

Any questions?

Though it seems that both of our ancestors were on to something, your grandfather is smarter than mine.

You see, back in 1964, my grandfather bought two gallons of gas. He put one gallon in his car and one gallon in his nightstand. I found that canister yesterday. It contains a gallon worth of gas. I think I'll trade it to you for your grandfather's silver quarter and we can right this wrong from 46 years ago!!!

A point that even solidifies silver more! I dont know of any additive that will keep gas usable for half a century. Much like U.S. FRNs, gas eventually "rots".

Almost everything can be brought to 60's levels by simply refactoring the VALUE they have removed from OUR money.
    $200,000 house...... $20,000
    $20,000 car....... $2,000
    etc etc etc

"store of value?" I think you pretty well summed up investment 101, 102 and the first semester of investment banking.

Dang it Gecko, you make it hard to flip stuff with these types of arguments!!

But I'll wager the value of the 1964 quarter in today's money will pale in comparison to 2064's fiat money vs. that same 1964 quarter's value...if there even is a 2064.

  • During the 40's a silver quarter could get you 2 gallons of gas, now it's just one, so someone's getting screwed out of a gallon of gas
