A Couple of Questions . . .

halfhunterhalfhunter Posts: 2,770 ✭✭✭
. . .

1) When did the US Mint switch from Shiny finish to the Satin/Matte finish now on Silver Eagles?

2) How many Englehard were in an original tube?
I have a tube marked "Englehard" on the lid. It has 20 1984s that doesn't quite fill it but 25 would be too many for the lid to fit tight
Another tube I have is marked "Alfred S. Colella" on the bottom of the tube (nothing on lid). It has 25 1987s that fill the tube nicely.

OK maybe 3 . . .

3) Does anyone know or have info on the Johnson Matthey 10 round Bill of Rights set. I believe it was called "Rights and Freedoms"
When made, any production #s, etc.

TIA

Need the following OBW rolls to complete my 46-64 Roosevelt roll set:
1947-P & D; 1948-D; 1949-P & S; 1950-D & S; and 1952-S.
Any help locating any of these OBW rolls would be gratefully appreciated!

Here's a set called "We the People" but I don't think it's what you're referring to. In fact, I don't know who made this set, if it was a US mint set or not.

    1. Sorry for the confusion, but I was asking about the regular issue bullion coins. The finish changed at some point from a shiny finish to the current matte looking finish.

    3. Sorry image , I believe it is called "Rights and Freedoms" set . . . That's what THIS e-Bay seller calls it anyway. I bought a set like this awhile back & was hoping someone might have some info/history on them.

    Thanks,

Don't know, but as far as I know, the bullion version remained the same...no change over the years.

I've also noticed that in the last few years, the bullion Eagle has a satin finish whereas in the past they were shiny.
