Unprofessional Paypal email

nencoinnencoin Posts: 1,319 ✭✭✭✭
We started a new eBay account and so Paypal is holding funds coming in for that account up to 21 days (even though they are coming to a Paypal account we've had for ten or so years...any chance to earn on the float, I suppose).

ANYWAY, here is the email they send out. At first I thought it was a spoof considering the way it is formatted. I receive the emails EXACTLY as they show below. Note the messed up email link as well as the missing state from the address. I contacted my rep at Paypal and she at least responded quickly saying that she'd forward it along to the appropriate department. Is anyone else getting emails formatted this way from Paypal? It looks awful...like something some scammer from Russia would send.

I got the same e-mail when I started a new ebay account. I also had my other account for 10+ years.
I have $1600 pending and the person has yet to leave positive feedback, so I have to wait the 21 days

It's not the wording that I take issue with, but rather the This Is The First Time I've Ever Sent An Email way it's formatted. Missing punctuation, odd paragraphing, messed up email link.

Meh....I'm just whining. This is the first day we've seen the sun in a LONG time and so I'm annoyed that I'm stuck inside today.

Looks like it was generated by the computer--perhaps a programming deficiency rather than a D- in writing????

Have also suffered from the "pending" due to low feedback number. Never have received an email. Always found the same information in my paypal details page. I have found that you can expedite release of funds by entering the tracking number into paypal (drop down button next to transaction on overview page). If paypal hasn't auto released the funds within two or three days of delivery you can call paypal and they will confirm delivery from this info and in most cases release your funds.

Most buyers don't realize that this "hold" on funds for sellers with less than 100 feedback makes these same sellers the safest people to buy from on ebay. Your purchase money is held by ebay until delivery of item.

eBay wants to protect you by ensuring the buyer is legitimate. They must have some poop on him or her if they hold the money for three weeks from someone who is "legit". This looks like a case of " VENDOR protection" from the way the letter reads. It's an inconvenience, but there could be a silver lining.

I see nothing wrong with the email.

Also the original of the email might have been written in another language and what you see is a translation.

I understand the need for funds holds with newbie accounts, but it's pretty damned silly that PayPal does this with established members simply because it's a new eBay handle.

It isn't vendor protection, it's the standard 21 day hold for new accounts.

Thanks for hint to check there I just found a coin I have been looking for. 1918-D Walker that I was asking for on the BST.
  • They did the same to me I had not sold anything on ebay for a year needed quick cash so listed a few rolls of Morgan's and they promptly put the the funds $1100 on hold. I called paypal and ripped them a new one I said they had no legal right to hold the funds not sure if they do or not but the next day it was released. Give it a try can't hurt.

Do you want it ingraved on a silver plate or something ?
This is no worse than some of the coins you sell !!

I had them do that to me. I never changed a thing. I never received a acceptable answer from them either.

Positive feed back was left so it wound up about 5 days. Has not happen since.

Which coins in particular are you referring to? I just checked out his website for the first time and liked what I saw.

Got the same one last week. I had no problem with it. I'm a power seller with
8 years on ebay, perfect feedback, over 2000 transactions.

Still have to wait for the feedback thing.
