Main use of subscription to VCP

I think I am finally going to get a subscription to VCP, but was wondering if your purpose is to have more reliable (than SMR) data at hand when selling/buying cards OR to track certain cards/sets over a period of time to see which ones have been moving upward or downward.

Any opinions on how helpful either endeavor has been?

Also, once I figure out how to look up values, I will help out anybody ---- just to make up for all the times I've requested help in the past and probably will in the future.

Thanks, Tom

If I were about to put SERIOUS money into a vintage set, I'd absolutely get a subscription to VCP - as a seller, I let the 7-day eBay market pay me what it is worth as I don't care to hold onto cards.

I am a heavy VCP user. Most of my bids reflect the data in VCP as I dont want to pay over market. When selling I use it to determine if I want to just let the card ride or put it into my store as a BIN. I also have over 1200 cards entered into my collection, broken into 25 sub groups so I can see whats the latest value on my collection at any given time and how much I have into each set. I find it well worth the money for anyone who buys or sells a lot or who has more than 10k into their collection.

I've never used VCP either, but I have been curious about signing up.

    Two questions:

What years does VCP give data for?

Does it track non sports cards as well?

Most sports they cover thru 1999. Topps 1951-99, Upper Deck 1989-99, etc

They do cover non sports with the last set i can see as 1987, just checked the 1977 star wars and it has price data for most cards.
