This is a 1923 Peace $. Based on the reverse only, what would you grade it:

    66? Could even be 67.

    But I don't think I want it.

Our hosts have been, at least to me, brutal on grading Peace dollars lately. I have stopped sending them in. It is tough to get a feel for the luster of this coin from the photo, but I suspect that it is somewhat subdued.

The coin above is actually blinding balst white. Here's a 67 from an OGH, 1923

Now that coin has some luster!

the OP's coin has got to be an ms65 at least!

    I'm voting for an ms66.

    And a 68, although a 24.

The first picture has as much luster as this coin (different coin).

    32.5, it's half way to 65.

Looks like 8 or 7 now.... image Seriously, it's a 7 all day long even with the strike not all being there. Obverse is clean but border 7, we'll see what PCGS says.

I was gonna go with the 63 option, but not there

I am not a PEACEMAN, but blazing luster because of die erosion, is not my favorite

why are you showing and asking about the reverse?

reverses usually do not add to a grade, just bring it down

so - I could see that reverse on anything from an AU58 through MS67

had to edit after looking again - I am assuming that is die erosion rather than some light whizzingimage

Appears to be a nice coin, but the picture is so large, it is hard to evaluate the actual surface. Everything is magnified to a point beyond what a visual 'in hand' evaluation would show. Cheers, RickO

Let's see the obverse which counts more.

I'd say 66 on the reverse, but who knows what the grade is without the obverse.

I only have the rev pic from the recycle bin. I'll get the coin at the bank Monday and take some better pics....
