UM... How did my Icon change today the 27th?

I updated my profile to add a picture to my sig. line. After doing this, my Icon changed to a penny? I guess that is the defalut Icon or it is listed first at the top of the icons you can chose from? I tried to change it back to the picture I had upload on the 15th but it wasn't tehre. I had to pick my old icon instead. Anyone... Carol... ?

You can change back to your old one if you can locate it. There are thousands on file though and I know my computer cannot load them all. Live and learn. Change sig line lose avatar

Happened to me a few months ago. Thought it was some system burp. Then, I was able to repro it the following month
So, it seems that many, or all, new icons will be usable but not saveable even when done on the open period each month.

So, if you change your sigline, you lose your icon UNLESS it was already in there as one available.

I once had a picture (not an avatar) change on me.

It was a piece of Swedish plate money- a big huge rectangular "coin".

Then I went back to my thread and there was a picture of an actual china plate there! It was a pretty, antique plate, but it wasn't my plate money!

Must have had something to do with duplicate filenames on the server or something. I suspect some avatar glitches happen this way. I do know that if you try to upload an avatar with a filename that is already used, it ends up with some cryptic name and number like "ACFxxx"

I found my old one in the archives after looking at a thousand it seemed...

It's proably there just not with the name you gave it. As meentioned if the name was already in use when you loaded it the system gives it another name.

I've taken the time, when I was bored and not much on tv, to look through ALL of them on the server that are available when this happens. The 3 times I have had this happen, my icon WAS NOT available under any name. I recall a thread where this happened to another couple of folks as well.
