Initial reactions to Secure Plus: I have seen this movie before..

The same folks who are most incensed and disappointed about the Big One will be the first to proudly display their + coins on the forum. It happened with the inception of the CAC and will happen again with Secure Plus.

At first I thought "Meh."
But I've been reading and discussing this "Big One" thing with some pretty knowledgeable folks over the last couple of hours and I've concluded that I remain basically indifferent...but open minded.
To paraphrase a friend: If I like a PCGS coin with a + on it, and the price is fair, I'll buy it. If I don't, and it isn't, I won't.
All the "+" talk when the big threat is fakes and doctoring, etc.
For the few grand and higher coins, once it is in a secure plus holder, at least the buyer knows that PCGS has an image of some coin with this Cert Number and they'll be able to tell if it is fake or doctored, etc. by comparing it to the image or images on file.
<< <i>More is better - Eagle Eye Photo Seal, NGC Star, CRO Approved, CAC Green & Gold, and finally PCGS +. I want them all
I note that you failed to list the 'Double Wnuck with Cheese', but I am certain this was merely an oversight.

Kind of like we already do using the Heritage auction archives???
<< <i>I am typing on the iPhone and hit the wrong key.
You wouldn't have that problem if you were using a Droid.

No offense to our host, but nothing has numismatically harmed more than a doctored coin in a PCGS holder. Why should I think that this time it will be different?

I guess I see your point....
at least the pictures will all be in one place versus a myriad of auction sites (and possibly not at all) for what that is worth.

I knew that was coming.
BTW, you can send the thingy any time.

I have limited experience with Photoseal but of the rest, I have never been disappointed with CRO Approved or CAC gold.

Will do.
PM sent.

I respectfully submit the following coin for a "Double Wnuck with Cheese" seal of approval:
Dear Santa, please forgive Walmann and let him back on here.

Edited: BTW I am not against CAC anymore I just have no reason to submit to them.

So let's see your "+" dirty gold . . . . .

At this point, I have little impetus to submit them. Old holders with green and gold stickers are more than satisfactory. Many of my coins would not meet grade or price criteria for Secure Plus. When it is time to sell, I will reevaluate the marketplace and see what is the gimmick du jour to maximize my returns (if any).

Hey, I think I saw one of those moves during the Olympic snowboarding competitions.

Do you still have your 61-D $5? That one seemed "plus-worthy" IIRC.
