Here's a piece I won't be buying

CaptHenwayCaptHenway Posts: 32,815 ✭✭✭✭✭
Being a collector at heart, I happen to collect odds and ends made by a company called Meyer & Wenthe, a token manufacturer who also made stamped metal items in many fields. I do so because their old business address, listed on some of their advertising tokens, is 31 N. Clark St., the coin store address I have been working at for almost 21 years.

Found this piece on the Bay of E. I won't be buying it. I guess golf-related collectors are crazier than token-related collectors.

Wow, that golf sport sure ain't cheap! Just to get a caddy badge is an arm!
Then you have to lug those bags and clubs for 18 holes.

Nope, not my cup of tea!!

It seems that in 1937 a guy named Gene Sarazen won the Chicago open at Medinah. Since then Medinah has hosted the US open and the PGA tour championship more than once. One of the great, classic old courses. Tiger won the PGA there in 99 and 06. --Jerry

The course is historic, that's for sure! Golf memorabilia is a market all it's own, and a trinket like that will command top dollar at the end of the day.

For everything that exists (or so it seems), someone, somewhere, collects it and is willing to pay big money for certain specimens. We are not alone. Cheers, RickO

Who knows? Had it walked in the door I would have offered $10 for it and thought I was overpaying just because I wanted it.

I have a collection of Oak Hill C.C.* "Flying Goat" tokens, some of which have late members names punched into them. Made by Bastian Brothers of Rochester, N.Y. They command similar prices.
