Not happy if there's a new holder.

I have spent alot of time and money putting my set together and sending my coins in to be holdered with PCGS. I want my coins to all look good together in my set. That means my holders need to look consistant. I will not be happy if PCGS makes a new holder. I will seriously have to decide if i want to keep playing the PCGS holder game or just keep my coins in albums at that point. PGCS Big one just might push me over the edge and quit.

Well, if you're going to change your grading guarantee (ie: copper) makes it much easier to know what was graded after Jan 2010.

But, that would be a real let down regarding a "Big One".

Holders will always be changing. Quit worrying about it.

... Or new holders can make their job easier if collectors don't keep up with or can remember all of the changes.

The U.S. faced the same problem with paper money back in the 19th century.

At any rate changing all of your holders because of a change in a label color or the like seems over the top to me. The only time I've had coins re-holdered was when the original holder was badly scratched or damaged, and I could not enjoy looking at the coin.

I am also collecting at least one coin for each Roman emperor from Julius Caesar to ... ?

It's really too much to expect all your slabs to match. Holders evolve for legitimate reasons and must change.

It would be nice if the dimensions remained the same.

    Don't worry, be happy.

A little OCD today, are we?

As long as you're enjoying the COINS, what does the consistency of a plastic slab have to do with anything...

    Sheesh...
Always looking for attractive rim toned Morgan and Peace dollars in PCGS or (older) ANA/ANACS holders!

  • Yes a little OCD today. I think i just realized the holder is going to change one of these day and i really don't want it to. It would be nice at least if the dimensions remain the same. The general look so they at least look like they can go together would be good too.

  • For example one with a chip in it. The old holder which ended in mid 2010 without the chip in it. Both looking the same from the obverse minus the larger barcode.

I'd like to know how much money I saved over the years cracking out virtually all my toners and displaying them in Captial Plastics holders.

I'd also like to know how much mental anguish I avoided by not agonizing over what someone else thought the grade might have been.

This will sound rude but I'll come out and state it...

Like everything else in the world, designs evolve over time and TPG holders are no exception. If a design change will force you to quit buying coins altogether than the odds are you aren't dedicated to the hobby enough and never have been. You were collecting TPG holders and tags, not the coins housed in them.

Change happens and relishing in the past isn't all that productive.

Geez! Who cares about the metal disc, the plastic is all that counts.

I have a new start-up that all we do is polish your holders so they look better than brand new. PM me for the fees and the address to ship your coins. Because of our temporary limited bandwidth during our growth, the company asks that you ship your most valuable coins first. We'll also need your credit card numbers and social security number to verify your identity. If you wish to have your fees charged directly, please supply us with your checking and savings account numbers as well as a signed blank check that we will immediately void.
