Grade opinion for Morgan please.........

Your opinion would be much appreciated.
All four pictures are of the same coin.
True color is the first and third pictures.
Second and fourth pics are reflected light to show the surface flaws better (not much on the reverse, but moreso on the obverse).

too many dings on the obverse for MS...AU 53 maybe 58...I'm with the herd.

  • 53 would be the conservative grade. 58 would be liberal.

    Hi there,

Same - 55. The coment above mine quoted above - I don't think "dings" preclude Mint State, just keep it at 60 or wherever it belongs for the hypothetical.

    Best,
    Eric

  • Hi again,

    now that I am awake - 50.

    Best,
    Eric
  • This one really isn't that "flawed." Were it MS, it would be pushing 63-64. It lacks the luster for that, though, for one, it's pretty "flat." Plus, there is wear. You can make that out most easily in pics 1 and 3.

I'll go solid 55 as a technical or condition grade on this one. That nice, uniform, "antique" toning, though, should, rightfully, be compensated for, and as such should put a premium on this one. Overall, IMHO, this is an eye-appealing, lightly-circulated coin.

Looks like an AU-58 to me, but because it's an 01-P, the services might give it extra scrutiny, and call it a 55, or a 53 on a bad day. Nice coin.

I'd say 53, maybe 55. A 1901-P is a condition rarity so I'd imagine little to no benefit of the doubt given to it. Also it's hard to discern the amount of remaining luster on the coin from the image, and in the AU range that's a significant factor in the grade.
