Stopped by the B&M at lunch

And he had EXACTLY what I was looking for: $34 in 90%, virtually all G-VG mercs with maybe 10 G-VG walkers for 11.5x face...

...that he'd just sold to the other guy who comes in all the time to buy on the cheap image

Oh well. What can you do? The other guy just chuckled to himself and left.

Nice!! I SHOULD visit some shops to build a relationship but in the past, they've been expensive. That's the DOWNSIDE to this forum. Since there is a lot of people on here, the prices are lower than my local places. PLUS, nicer people too!!

bestmr you have a point: I've literally been going to this guy for 30 years. He used to sell out of the front half of a big space my mom rented. And I've probably bought $20k worth of stuff from him in the last 3 or 4 years.

He knows me, he knows I pay cash, he knows I won't come back a week later with a changed mind. His philosophy has always been buy and sell quickly, take a little profit but move product. When he sells to me at 11.5x, it's because he literally just bought it an hour or two ago at 9, maybe 10x. If he can make $50 or $100 in a matter of minutes without lifting a finger that suits him just fine.

I understand other dealers try to buy low and sell high--and that means they sit on inventory.

Profit is all about turning your inventory and letting your money make you money and then putting it to work again. Your dealer is a wise man.
