    50 pesos are one of the largest gold coins ever made and arguably the first "bullion" coin. They are massive--1.2057 ounces. Check out that date. 3 years ago last Wednesday that coin cost me $860 delivered. It's one of the less common dates from an already small mintage series. PCGS slabbed, too. Surprisingly, they don't sell for much of a premium and raw ones can often be found at a discount.

    Here is some silver I bought in Italy last week, some more from eBay and an unexpected BIG "small token of friendship" I received from a good friend from behind the Iron Curtain (2 stunning bars, one with the skyline of Florence and the other made by a big company in Arezzo, UnoAerre - I grew up in between these 2 beautiful cities).

    This showed up in an area B&M this week. I haven't seen this 25 oz size before. Anyone have an idea if this is a tougher Engelhard?
    Couldn''t find any on the bay, nor any mention of one doing a thread search here.

    Bought this sealed roll of 20 2oz. 2009 Libertads on eBay today... figured it was a pretty good deal at $38.25 per coin after Bing cashback and eBay Bucks image I don't even think you can find the 1 oz. Libertads for $19.13/oz... I'll buy 2oz. coins at that price all day!

    whoa!! didn't realize I got that good of a deal on them... and the real bummer is that the seller post 5 rolls for sale over a week ago... I just happened to find them today and grabbed the last roll... had i seen it earlier I probably would have bought all 5 rolls!

    Coinnerd ...... 25 oz Engelhard bar.....

    The cast 25oz bar is not one that you see every day.

    They do pop up on e-bay every so often and sell for $3 +/- an oz. over spot.

    Great find for a B&M!!

    Dan, I"m sorry; I'm nearly as green as you are. I just got into PMs a year ago (making a switch from coins for 35 years), so I don't know much at all. I know there are some knowledgeable people here, such as AbougAg (a new member), Silver Baron, Cars (now AgBlox), Mkman123, and probably Deadhorse (but I haven't read anything from him in years). It's really regrettable that it's so damn hard to get information about bars around here.

    All I know about the Sharps Pixley bar is that it was produced by Valcambi S.A. of Switzerland. They always use the CHI inside a circle as a trademark and assayer's stamp. They produce very high quality bars.

    If you find a source of information about art bars or commercial bars, please clue me in because I know next to nothing about them.
