  • It was a big discussion on the card forum also. Quite a few people weren't happy.

It wouldn't be so bad if they would credit some of the difference back, PCGS shipping has always been a bit on the high side, but it was worth it for registered.

The upside is the coins arrive so much faster than Registered.

I just received a package back yesterday that was mailed on Saturday. It used to take up to a week or sometimes a bit longer with Registered.
(I too miss the free blue box though...)

Must be, the box was not marked insured.

There are more costs to shipping than postageimage

you'd think that it would be partially covered by grading fees

maybe you could have eBay talk to them and explain they would get more stars and customer satisfaction with free shippingimage

Value of the order was $500, it only cost $12 to ship it insured out there.

image.........Have not submitted recently...Now,it may be longer.I would call them to see if some "mistake" was made and ask for the extra funds for registered be returned.................... image...Maybe the "big one" at the end of month will be positive for collectors.
  • Just curious... has anyone tried calling PCGS and asking them about this? image

Not so...if signature is required, notice will be left and not the package.

Right. I bet half a dozen people chime in with stories about them being left anyway.

<< <i>Mail in a submission 6 modern coins. PCGS charges me an $8 handling fee and $24.75 for USPS registerend mail postage.

The submission came back today, in a USPS small flat rate box. Postage $4.85, sig conf $2.35 for a total of $7.20. So I don't mind a bit of profit in the shipping, but $17.55 is a bit steep!! When one pays for registered shipping, I would think they come back registered. The last 2 orders I have received back have come this way! And for 6 coins I would expect a damn plastic box!!!

I'm sorry, but this really frosts my cookie!!! >>

If this was an eBay auction, the seller would have been dinged by me for s&h fees.image

You're talking about UPS. I have received hundreds of packages requiring my signature from the USPS over the years, and not once did they leave a parcel requiring my signature on my doorstep. I'm sure it does happen, but that would be out of the norm.

I thought they announced they would be using Priority mail for lower value orders. And didn't they come out with new forms with the lower shipping prices??? I haven't submitted in awhile so I don't know for sure... did you use a new form, or an old one you had lying around?
  • keetskeets Posts: 25,351 ✭✭✭✭✭
hey Marty.....................i have the absolute foolproof solution. i've stopped submitting. i figure i'll eventually start again, but for the time being i'm done and happy.image

They did come out with new forms...and at lower shipping costs.

For those that would neg a seller for high shipping....that's more than brutal. Hit them on the feedback for excessive shipping, but negs are for much much worse offenses...like not delivering product, not issues refunds etc etc you get the picture.

All orders that are paid for via credit card will be adjusted and the correct (new) amount will be charged when the order is received. Orders paid for via another means (check, etc.) will receive a refund check within 30 days.

Yes, PCGS has purchased private insurance which covers all packages sent out via Priority or Express Mail. Even after paying a sizeable premium we can still offer shipping that costs less, can be tracked online and is a lot faster.

As far as I know the USPS will never leave a package that has not been signed for.

edited to add: The online submission system was changed to reflect the new shipping prices.

You LIVE within 60 minutes fo the 'shop' and it took a week to get a pkg.

    thought you had the "clout"?

I did get a check back from them about a week ago for a attribution that obviously did not happen. I would rather have had the attribution in slab instead of the check.
  • Pcgs shipped Mon. and the package came today, too bad i wasn't home to sign for it.image
Off to the post office in the A.M.
    Great turnaround time too. image
