collection opinions

I am looking to finish off many of my incomplete sets of cents, dimes, nickels, halfs, dollars and quarter dollars, but do not know where i should turn. I have right now almost a complete set of wheat cents -Missing five and an almost complete set of 1959-2009 (its only missing about twelve of the proofs. I was wondering with the economy the way it is and being a low income individual what would be the best set I should complete next, I have the following:

Indian Head Cents (1857-1909) missing 42 coins
Lincoln cents (1941-1958) missing 11, I have 8 incomplete and 5 complete
Lincoln cents 1909-1940 (out of 4 sets missing #1- 46 #2- 36 #3- 29 #4- 22)
Washingtons quarters (1932-1964 missing 53)
Kennedy Halfs (1964-2003 missing 39)
Mercury Dimes (1916-1945 missing 41)
Roosevelt dimes (1946-1964 Missing 25)
Roosevelt dimes (1964-2004 missing 49 out of 2 sets)
Eisenhower Anthony Dollars (1971-1999 missing 13)
Liberty Head Nickels (1883-1912 missing 23)
Buffalo Nickels (1913-1938 missing 51)
Jefferson nickels (1938-1961 out of three sets, Missing #1- 21, #2- 46, #3- 54)

  • I would finish the 1946-1964 Roosevelt dime set. It's a neat set when complete and they are 90% silver. Good luck with your collecting.

If it was me, I'd take what cash I had to the next nearby show with a list of what I needed and have fun finding what I could.

I would recommend you choose the type you enjoy the most and finish that set first. Best to limit your focus, especially if your budget is restricted. Cheers, RickO

Jefferson nickels in which most can be found at a bank for face value with some high grades.
Ike & SBA dollars which are very easy & cheap, and do not require many to complete. Some of them can also be found at banks at face value.

I think this is very good advice.
