Friday night coin club report...program on gold indian cents

The 862nd meeting of the Omaha Coin Club saw 39 attendees, a silent auction with 25 lots, 3 guests and an interesting program on "gold Indian cents" by Quent Hansen, the club's resident Indian Cent authority. The 15 minute program included pictures, history, recent auction realized prices and a question and answer period for the 5 known gold indian cents. After the program, many members converged around one of the guests who had brought 4 cookie sheets full of loose coins to find information about. Actually, it reminded me of feeding frenzy in a shark tank. But the guest seemed to hold her own and left with all of her limbs and coins intact. The guest, who said she practiced neuro-psychology, mentioned to me afterwards, "You have some interesting members of your club".

If I'm not mistaken, that same coin was offered by Numismatic Rarities the previous year and didn't get any interest at $50,000.
