25 cards to add to your collection...

Was surfing eBay for a specific card and came across this seller who happened to have one.

I'm not familiar with the seller, and at the time I'm posting this has only 25 items for sale.

But it sure is a sweet lot of 25 cards!! Take a look.

Sweet!!

  • Hasnt sold a single card in 6 months and now offers 25 cards valued in excess of $15,000??? Not attacking the seller at all, but could the account have been hijacked? For big ticket items, I like to see more frequent activity.

Hard financial times maybe? It does make you raise an eyebrow though.

    I agree Gecko.

That's why I mentioned I didn't know the seller in the OP. Didn't want anyone thinking I was endorsing the seller. Was actually hoping maybe someone
knew of this guy since, like I said, I was interested in one of the cards.

I'm with you though, I like a little more recent activity along the lines of what's being sold to make me comfortable.

In any event, it'd sure be a nice 25 card addition to a collection, no?

  • Sure are some nice, and EXPENSIVE cards in that offering. Im not a hacker, but if I was a hacker, i'd look for an inactive account (one that has not sold items in past 6 months), who sold coins previously, and had a good feedback score. Then i'd list about 25 ounces of gold and cash out $30,000 before anybody knew anything was up. Just sayin.

I've seen it a couple times where a user got their account to around 500 for credability, then went on a massive selling spree with tons of high priced cards just to get the money and let their account tank by not sending the cards. If played right they can make away with thousands. But they definitely need to cover all their tracks...

Transfer to bank account from paypal account
    Cash out of bank account
Close ebay, paypal, and bank accounts
Sell computers used to visit account (to get rid of IP addresses)

So depending on how hard core someone is willing to go they can easily make away with $10-20k

Seller has some very nice psa registry sets, I would believe he's legit. Sometimes people re-focus and extras have to go. He has a 1959 Ted williams #68 psa 8 listed for sale, and a 9 in his registry. I don't think there's anything to worry about at all.

I could get away with $50,000 in fraudulent sales this week if I wanted to. Thats why for me, its important to see some recent activity of comparable items with any seller before I pull the trigger on a big ticket item.....big to me is $1,000+.
