That's a nice card, the scan is average but it sounds like the seller is too. I'm sure there are some big guns looking to grade this card because it's "been in a soft sleeve" over the last 9 years. From the looks, I'm thinking near mint/mint due to centering
It's still got some time too. I think the top of the line cards will stay strong in a bad economy and this is one of those. Would be nice to get a discounted PSA 10 Henderson RC or a Mantle in these times but I think they'll hold up. I think the economy is going to hurt a certain type of person and the industry will feel that. But if you were getting huge checks while it was a good economy, you likely still are. Executives stay. They just have to let people below them go. Guys buying 2,000 to 200,000 dollar cards are still going to be around for the good stuff and all you need is two very interested people with cash to send something to the stratosphere. Even with a handful of bidders disappearing, you still have little supply and a ton of demand.
Isn't that card a lot more valuable once it's numbered 5/500 or am I thinking of a different one? Might be that the high bidder plans on doing just that.
the reason this card sold so high is because of the bold signature, it's so bold that it made me stay away due to the clowns who are wiping and re-signing these freakin cards
Actually, I think that it is safe to say that this seller did the BEST job I have ever seen in the history of this card. This is the highest price I have seen a raw Pujols card go for --- $3050!!!! Kudos to him!
That's one card that is probably going to not end up in my signed rookie collection. I don't ever see myself laying out the kind of coin necessary to buy one of those on one of them. Pujols signed rookies are well represented in my collection with 3 different ones so far, and I'd love to get one of those, just don't love to pay for it, LOL.
Those weren't available in packs, correct? They had to be redeemed via a mail in redemption card? So that means no chance to ever pull one from a reasonably priced pack either.

I was thinking about that Mike.
If there's still product? There's still the possibility that all the cards weren't redeemed.
If Topps is sitting on a bunch? It would be a cool thing to put them in one of their newer products - tho I doubt they would do that.

Let it go already.
"My father would womanize, he would drink. He would make outrageous claims like he invented the question mark. Sometimes he would accuse chestnuts of being lazy. The sort of general malaise that only the genius possess and the insane lament. Our childhood was typical. Summers in Rangoon, luge lessons. In the spring we'd make meat helmets. When we were insolent we were placed in a burlap bag and beaten with reeds - pretty standard really."
No, those cards were not available in packs. If you pay $$$ for whats being asked on 2001 Chrome boxes you are going to be disappointed. There was a Beckett article on this not too long ago where a Topps spokesperson confirmed that the only way to get this card was via exchange.
I was one of these guys that paid crazy money for new Ryan cards limited to 30 or 34, but even I wasn't dumb enough to pay that much money for a card that has 500 copies available. In 25 years you'll have a tough time getting $300 for the card, never mind $3000. I know I got plenty of Ryan cards that will back up my statement. It's great while the player is active and doing well, but once he retires goes into the HOF and people start to forget about him or move on to someone else as most people do you'll be hard pressed to sell that card for that kind of money.

<< <i>HAS BEEN IN SOFT SLEEVE EVER SINCE I RECIEVED CARD. >>
Hope he doesn't ship it in a penny sleeve and PWE.
I agree - very poor photos and I don't know for sure what's going on with the back of this card.
Now - and I mean no disrespect to people who buy these kinds of cards - but 3200$ for a PSA 9? That's a lot of money!!!!
But, if one connects the card with the man? He's got some of the best stats - at this point in his career - of any player in history!
On this sale? I can't believe the price is up to 2K with those kinds of pics.
