in addition to running values of all coins, has a melt value calculator. Select the denomination, enter the number of pieces and spot price (current spot already filled in), and it tells you the current value. If you're an idiot like me and never checked it out, it's in the bar across the top of the page.

I've been reading coinflation for at least a couple of years now. I just didn't know they had a value calculator.

So if you want to be super accurate on junk silver, you should reduce their calculations by 1%.

<< <i>Been usin' it for a while .... most useful tool.. although they are a little slow in updating thier market prices >>
It looks like they use the closing price from the Crimex, at 13:30 hrs. on a daily basis.
I usually just plug-in the closing price from the Globex on a Friday for W/E shopping.

<< <i>Please note that coinflation.com calculations take into consideration the full value and full weight of the initial coin. There is 722 oz of silver in $1,000 face, but actual oz is about 715 (1% or so wears off over time).

They give a 5% spread for junk coins if you scroll down and look under the bid/ask spread....
<< <i>The only other thing that the melt calculator does that I don't like, besides not taking into consideration wear, is that it also calculates the melt costs with the copper content as well. >>
You mean it includes the remainings 10% of the metal content in the melt value? Because if that's what you mean, you're mistaken.
It doesn't look like the Silver Melt calculator takes into consideration the other base metals, but their values by coin do.
