Talk about a guy letting himself go after that fight though ( B. Douglas ) the guy just showed up to get paid to defend his title and made a complete fool out of himself crying after the loss.

I remember thinking, couldn't they just play "Parents Just Don't Understand" or something?
<< <i>I watched that fight live on TV - if I'm remembering right, Douglas was a 48 to 1 underdog - basically couldn't possibly win. >>
I didn't bet this fight, but some months before, I put a few dollars on Michael Spinks against Tyson figuring if Spinks would dance with Tyson and stay away from him for a number of rounds, a musclebound guy like Tyson would get tired and maybe Spinks could do some boxing damage to him in later rounds and win on a decision. Spinks if I'm remembering right was around a 6 to 1 shot (might have been less) which in boxing is a bit of a longshot. Well, Spinks "brilliantly" decides to go almost toe to toe with Tyson and Tyson crushed him quickly with a knockout.
So then ya have Douglas at 48 to 1...what frigging chance did he have? LOL
<< <i>I still think that fight was rigged. >>
I remember everyone speculating that because Don King promoted both fighters. Supposedly he got Tyson to take a dive because his previous several fights we're one round knockouts and he couldn't make as much money promoting 60 second fights. That's why this fight was in Japan.

1892, Gentleman Jim Corbet stops John L Sullivan in the 21st round, New Orleans.
1926, Gene Tunney decisions Jack Dempsey, in 10 rounds, Philadelphia.
1936, Max Shmeling knocks out previously undefeated Joe Louis, 12th round, NYC. ( non-title )
1964, Cassius Clay defeats Sonny Liston, his corner surprisingly renders him "unable to continue" after 6 rounds, Miami.
Saw it on a big screen. I can remember saying to my friend Buster is going to win. It was odvious in round 1.
That night Mike didn't have it at all...and Buster was living a once in a lifetime chance.....if you remeber his mom had just died...and
he was very close. He was driven.
Funny about sports uopsets..I was where the usa hockey team beat the russians watching the biggest Boxing upset of all time.
