Ok, thanks to you and Tahoe...the mint issues a $250 box with the designation #NO 4.....for circulation purposes.....that's the one? I guess there's no way to know what mint mark will be in these sealed boxes.
....and in the end, the love you take is equal to the love you make....
I know you are all thinking I'm a bit thick, but before I start spending money chasing another holy grail, I just want to be sure. I don't buy much from the mint and don't subscribe to any "direct ship" items.
So, that I'm clear.....I am looking for the five roll mint issue ($250) #NO 4 that has the red/white/blue wrapper and there is no way to delineate from the box which mint (Denver or Philly) produced the contents.
The reason I'm asking is because there is a box available to me but I can't discern which mint it came from and I don't want to spend unnecessarily. Thanks for helping clarify for us "out of the loopers".....

I thgink you'll be quite surprised when your NO4 box arrives since it has ...........................10 rolls! Yay!
Actually, instead of refering to them as NO2, NO3, and NO4 "boxes", if you would have referred to them as "product codes", folks would have understood what you were asking since thats the way most folks refer to them around here.
Yes, NO4 is the Product Code for the 2010 NA Direct Ship Rolls. However, there is no guarantee on which mint you will receive so it could take a couple of tries to get some D Mint rolls. Or you could get lucky and be Luckyman!
I decided to change calling the bathroom the John and renamed it the Jim. I feel so much better saying I went to the Jim this morning.

....yeah, the only way to guarantee the mint of choice is to purchase the 'mint' rolls for a premium per roll.

Well I looked through the rest of my rolls that I have left after selling a few to forum members and didn't find anything interesting. I think the quality of them isn't too bad, most would be MS64-65 I think, but there are a few MS66+ candidates in the rolls for sure. But they're all getting spent!!!!!!!
<< <i>Any reports of more finds?? Any reports from across the street??
It is beginning to look more and more as a one off event. >>
I've got 3 different orders in and all three have been backordered until 2/18. I expect that there are some that did as MAS did while others may have not checked. Another thing to cinsider is that perhaps not that many were ordered to begin with. My initial order was for $500 simply to see what the new design looked like.
More could turn up but I think orders need to be filled on the US Mint's side of the house. Then we'll see.

......i think there are (i'm one) many out there that haven't even checked their rolls yet. so it MAY happen down the road
perhaps because of this reason. just a hunch.

Of the orders I've received, two of the orders were Philly coins and only one was Denver. So far nothing has shown up in the Denver boxes except a bunch, and I mean a BUNCH of beat up Denver coins.
These were definitely from the "bottom" of the ballista bag!

<< <i>Over the next month, I'll be very curious on how many of these are found. It is totally possible that the error was detected and a bulk of the bad coins were pulled from the Ballista bags priot to shipment to NF String and Son. >>
I sincerely doubt that this error was caught within the Mint walls. The dollars on quarter planchets were caught at the rolling stare because the error was eye-catching from across the room. I'll put my bet right now on tens of thousands of these turning up in rolls, or a quantity roughly equal to the number of GW "smoothies", with a few lucky lottery winners getting hundreds of them in a box.

I haven't heard of anymore of these being found. Has anybody else?

I don't know if I'm buying this story. How could only 1 coin, of the badgillion minted, be found by only one collector??? Something smells fishy to me. Mint employee got out of the mint with one? Sold it to a buddy?? Doesn't seem plausable to me that it was a legit error.
Doesn't really matter if you "buy it". Point is that there is one of these out there. The mint pulled back all the boxes that were going to be shipped after this was announced. They never stated, to my knowledge, if they found any more or not. They also gave an explanation on how this could have happened (and it could have been just 1).
Maybe you are just not believing it because there nothing to chase/hoard/flip from it
...was anything ever heard whether or not the mint found any in those rolls THEY searched?

I doubt they would ever admit to finding any others, but my guess is no, most of us went thru 500 or more and even got a box of the p's when they recalled all the d's still have to go thru them its a bummer someone one from here accidently spent 2 of them, would have a been another cool error to get free from the mint. it also means there maybe 2 out there floating around out of the million or so
...i don't know. but something makes me suspect some could still be out there. think for a minute. how many collectors
think to look for unusual things on the edge. and what about coins out in circulation? your average 'spender' is usually
NOT a collector and wouldn't know an error if they held it in their hand! in the mean time I'M gonna keep looking!
AND how can we be sure that the mint examiners ACTUALLY examined ALL the coins especially when the lunch whistle
was sounding?

Since these are face value, I do not think of it as spending. I will use them forever on my small cash purchases and get FF miles for them.

I found a P mint coin with weak edge lettering. At first glance thought
it was a smooth edged coin.

Agree unless the one's Michael put in the spend bucket were 2010 dated. Then it would be a three-off event.
