Home Trading Cards & Memorabilia Forum

I'm probably not the one to post this but I will anyway.

I suggest we adopt the same protocols that the coin forum was FORCED to use.

I suggest each and everyone of you go to the coin forum and read the sticky that is on the top of page one.

Just substitute PSA for PCGS and cards for coins and Don Willis for Carol or Joe.

Not sure how to get the point across that I am as guilty as everyone else so I'll say that I am the most guilty.

That way no one can accuse or think I am being a hypocrite.

Steve

Good for you.

I agree -- this should be the general rule set for all message boards.

    Thanks! (and I'm guilty too).

Yeah, somewhere between those dry rules and our current state of affairs SHOULD BE a reasonable compromise. I've only been here a short while, but the last month or so is just about the worst infighting and sniping that I've seen on any board. And that includes a lot of geeky boards where people often have ZERO people skills.

Ya think? Another solution is to bring back the Open forum image

I think we will see a gradual decline in societal behavior until Dec 21 2012, when we will have a "new awakening" on message boards throughout the world.

  • Steve, you set up a nice thread like this then about 5 mins ago you said this to another member:

"I'll be back later to read your next brilliant post."

May I suggest if you want real change, you may need to 1st look within yourself?

Does that mean all cards will be worth less on 12/22/12?

Steve, that other guy did not create a "civility" thread a few hours ago, YOU DID! If you want change, you should lead by example, and if you dont understand that, well then you are really lost.

I think it would just be nice for people to have some semblance of self-restraint. No need to be the E-thug and call people names or be Captain Spellcheck just to prove your higher intelligence. Just don't post if you have nothing worthwhile to add. Really, that simple. Post counts don't mean a thing, nor should they.

I'm all for having a sense of humor and bust nads with people, but you gotta be able to handle it when it's thrown back at you. Just because someone says something that COULD possibly be taken in a negative light, does is it really necessary that you have immediately fire off a 1000 word diatribe against that person? Just leave it be and move on.

To get soooo offended at what someone says in a FORUM is just taking things a little too seriously. Just because you have an opinion doesn't mean you should always let it be known. Send a PM and handle things like mature adults. The vast majority of the time when a thread gets derailed, people don't care about the posts that have nothing to do with the actual topic.

And it doesn't help to feed the fire. Let it go and it'll die a peaceful death. No one will care next week, next month, etc.

We should go to the animal forum and ask this question:

How much wood would a wood chuck chuck, if a wood chuck could chuck wood?

Rule 1) This is not a public forum. This is a PCGS forum paid for by PCGS and provided for PCGS customers to exchange information regarding collecting US coins. We make the rules this is not a democracy.

Rule 2) Anyone posting crude or vulgar pictures or language will no longer be allowed to post. No more warnings.

Rule 3) Anyone attacking another poster or making disparaging personal remarks will no longer be allowed to post. No more warnings.

Rule 4) Anyone making libelous remarks concerning any individual, any company, or any other entity will no longer be allowed to post. No more warnings.

Rule 5) If you have nothing to contribute to an OP then do not post. Snide remarks and other negative comments will result in your losing your ability to post. No more warnings.

Rule 6) This forum is about US Coins. If your post is not directly related to US Coins then this is the wrong forum. Do not post it or your posting privileges may be removed.

Rule 7) This is a PCGS forum. Posts promoting or bashing other grading companies or service are not allowed. Those posts will be removed and your posting privileges may be removed as well.

Rule 8) This forum is provided for the education and sharing of information. Not as a personal soapbox. If you want to learn and share information about US Coins you are welcome.

Rule 9) If you don't like any of the rules outlined above see Rule 1.

    Those are some serious rules!

I'd hate to see it come to that - but this just may happen here also.

Note - that's being dismissed summarily - no warning - that's pretty much it.

I think I'd rather see people opt to just work and play well with others.

Although I see the benefits of such limits I would hate to see it come to that mainly because of the inability to post an OT once in a while. With the wide variety of board members careers there is a wealth of knowledge here on many topics besides cards and every now and then I need to take advantage of it!

  • Glad Don Willis isn't my boss. Seems like a big time micro-manager.
From what I can tell, 707 is the DOLLAR STORE compared to deans_cards. For what that guy charges, if I ever bought anything from him I would expect it to be delivered to me in a frickin' limo.

I think you'd have to know the history behind the rules.

That's not micromanaging IMO- that's a "last resort" effort to keep a forum rather than shut it down totally.

I wouldn't want to police the boards.
