I'm wondering about that too, especially since the $8 sub lasts through February.

    Hi-

Sorry, but I have never before gotten cards graded, but am thinking of doing some. Can someone please tell me how you determine the value of a card to send in before you actually get it graded? My 1960 Fleer Hank Stram is maybe $40-$45 ungraded, but would be more if it were a 9 or 10, right? How does that work?

    Thanks, Todd

Whether or not your card should be graded is up to you.
Some people like having even mid-grade cards graded and slabbed just to make certain they are genuine and unaltered.
As for the grade, if you are fairly certain your card would grade high, you can usually tell prices from looking at 1) SMR to get a general idea 2) VCP's website to get a more specific average or 3) Ebay completed auctions to get the recent sales prices, if any.
  • Everyone better get them in before Friday when Bill sends out the 3000+ sub from the boards.

Is this supposed to be some kind of mini sub for you? This is nothing like what is posted on the specials page.

I'll sit this one out and wait for another $5 or $4.50 special.

Problem is that special typically doesn't cover cards pre-1950.

I am always confused about the "card value under 250.00" statements. Does that mean a card that would be worth $250.00 at the highest grade (PSA 10)? Or, if I submit a card under these terms, will the highest grade it gets be based on that $250 value ?

the grade it gets has nothing to do with your declared value
it's usually best to put a declared value based on what you expect the card to grade, since the declared value is used to calculate amount of insurance coverage on the trip back to you
  • $6 subs mean we would get them back by the All-Star break (maybe)
