Keith, that's an awesome looking Walker. I'm laying low for a while but it'd be at the top of my list if I had my buying hat on. Can't believe it's lasted this long.

<< <i>Keith, that's an awesome looking Walker. I'm laying low for a while but it'd be at the top of my list if I had my buying hat on. Can't believe it's lasted this long. >>
Thanks, Vince. 'Tis true - the Doak Walker is still available. There have been some nibblers - some biting harder than others. Last week it was nearly sold but that buyer needs a few more weeks to come up with funding. The best Doak Walker rookie card in the hobby (to many) is indeed still available to anyone.
Now it's easy for an owner of a card to spout off on the merits of it and I didn't do so before; but an interested collector brought up some points one time as follows: Besides this particular example being the hobby's best-known example to many, Doak Walker is a name of a Hall Of Famer that endures and has name recognition due to the college football award presented in his name annually. The 1948 Leaf Doak Walker is a card that has no widely recognized variations. Additionally, there's no 1948 Bowman Doak Walker, and not even a 1949 Leaf Doak Walker. This is the one.
Joe and Vince, thanks for the question and comment.
Joe, you can check all my Registry Sets, or Football HOF RCs Registry. Most are saleable. I'm only holding onto the Philadelphia Eagles cards - and also holding onto some of the 1952 Bowman Large cards (not all of those).
Another round of further price cuts is reflected in this thread's first post. Sold cards have also been removed from the list. The deepest price cut in this thread's first post is the Clarke Hinkle RC PSA 8, reduced from $4,400 to $3,900. Some have speculated that this is the hobby's most eye-appealing high grade example, with astute color and centering. Before considering buying, please judge for yourself below. Thanks, Keith.
1935 National Chicle #24 Clarke Hinkle (HOF) (RC)....$3,900
My 1958 Topps Bart Starr Rookie Card graded PSA 8 recently sold for $2,795 on this thread.
Memory Lane has one in their current auction which some would feel has lesser eye appeal that the one I just sold. Memory Lane's is at $2,842 with Buyer's Premium - and there's still two days left in the auction.
This forum is a terrific way to cut through the Buyer's Premiums, eBay fees, and consignment fees. Consequently, feel free to visit this thread's first post to see adjusted lower prices to Football Hall Of Fame Rookie Cards of Cliff Battles, Clarke Hinkle, Alex Wojciechowicz, Slingin' Sammy Baugh, Doak Walker, Chuck Bednarik, Jimmy Brown, Joe Namath, et. al. Many cards have high eye appeal for the grade.

Memory Lane's Bart Starr RC in their current auction. Two days remain and the current price is $2,842.
See this thread's first post for new sales prices that were further discounted as of five minutes ago. For card scans, see earlier posts in this thread or click here.
A number of significant price discounts have been applied, especially: 1935 Cliff Battles PSA 7...$850 1935 Clarke Hinkle PSA 8...$3,695 (Perhaps hobby's best high-grade example) 1948 Leaf Sammy Baugh PSA 6...$750 1948 Leaf Chuck Bednarik PSA 6...$2,250 1965 Joe Namath PSA 8....$5,195 (VCP avg. is $5,732)
Good luck Vince. That card would be a terrific addition to your collection.
"My father would womanize, he would drink. He would make outrageous claims like he invented the question mark. Sometimes he would accuse chestnuts of being lazy. The sort of general malaise that only the genius possess and the insane lament. Our childhood was typical. Summers in Rangoon, luge lessons. In the spring we'd make meat helmets. When we were insolent we were placed in a burlap bag and beaten with reeds - pretty standard really."
I am such a moron, and I should probably have used capital letters. Of course that last post should've been a PM, not a public offer. My apologies Keith. Can't believe I buggered that up! No wonder I struggle to understand how to post scans of cards.
Apologies again.
PM sent.

<< <i>someone buy that Jim Brown already. If I had $700 to my name, I probably would. Oh, college. John >>
You'll certainly have a chance at one after the diploma is in your hand.
Yes, the 1958 Topps Jim Brown (HOF) (RC) graded PSA 7 is available at $695, as are the other cards listed in this thread's first post.
It's difficult to find a Jim Brown RC with better centering, but the one that makes this example outstanding is the print saturation of the black frame:
The Jim Brown rookie card just sold. Fortunately, the buyer is a frequent poster here. Consequently, hopefully he'll post the scan on the Football HOF RCs Set Registry thread.
The only bites I've had on my deeply discounted Namath RC below are ones whom need payment plans into the very long term. I can work something out with an interested buyer this way: with a small down payment, have the card paid for in two months or less with two payments or less and we'll call it good. The Namath has strong color brightness, and centering that is as good or better than most Namath RCs. Yet asking price is less than VCP average:
The 1935 National Chicle Clarke Hinkle card just sold yesterday.
Five cards remain for sale, including the erstwhile 1965 Topps Namath RC PSA 8, and this 1948 Leaf Doak Walker RC below. This may very well be the most eye appealing mid-grade Doak Walker RC in the hobby:
The price for the 1965 Topps Joe Namath Rookie PSA 8 is now significantly reduced - down to $4,895. It is likely the last time that the price will be reduced. The price is now well below VCP average, and the eye appeal is above average for the Namath RC.
1965 Topps Joe Namath Rookie Card graded PSA 8.....$4,895
I was wondering if it would be possible to email me high-res scans (200 dpi or > ) of the front and back of the Namath RC to ametfan@optonline.net . I'm thinking about it. Thanks.
The Namath rookie card is being sold to a highly experienced collector.
I have dropped the price on what is perhaps the most eye-appealing mid-grade Doak Walker rookie card. It is the 1948 Leaf #4 Doak Walker RC PSA 6 depicted below, $625.
See this post's first thread for available cards. Four remain.
Keith, My Hinkle arrived today! Awesome card thanks! Never have received a card packaged as well. Thinking of sending in for a review. Thanks for everything.
Due to inquiry about the 1948 Leaf Doak Walker PSA 6, I used my scanner for clearer images to replace those of the Doak that were exposed with the earlier scanner. Here is the Doak Walker card, both sides. It is perhaps the best mid-grade example of the Doak rookie in existence: clean, bright color, white borders, and very well centered.
The card was purchased 11/25/08 as an SGC 80 and successfully crossed into a PSA holder shortly thereafter:
I just wanted to add one thing. If anyone has an interest in any of Keith's remaining cards, just make a reasonable offer and payment plan and I am sure he will work with you. I went back and forth for almost 4 months and we worked something out. You will not be disappointed in your card.

As an option for you on high end cards, monthly payment plan with credit card is accepted for a small fee at your expense through Mint State Inc.

Morgage, Kids, wife. Just can't quite pull the trigger on it yet.
Sure wish it were in an SGC Holder. Think it will cross?
Whats an 8 go for? I can't see it looking much better than that 7
Its just a tad bit better than the one I have.
