Buried paper money

How long would paper money last buried in a box of some type and maybe not water tight? And no I haven't found any or know of any buried, just wondering that this morning.

If moisture, even in the form of condensation gets in, it will not last more than ten to fifteen years... if that long. Cheers, RickO

Climate also plays an effect, but the range can be anywhere from 10 to 100+ years

Some notes from the Titanic still looked decent after nearly 80 years sitting in a safe at the bottom of the ocean.

I doubt there was much oxygen down that deep to speed up any deterioration.

    Not buried but "found".

That story about the buried Horde is Not true. The Roofers actually found it in a home in some rafters and stole it. They were arrested, here is kind of a follow up story.
