Are you going after a whole set, a team set, minor/major leaguers, HOF's, a certain back, or are you just buying whatever you find? Those little cards are works of art. You can pick up a couple opened tobacco packs from that period as well that would display nicely with the T206's.

  • are you trying to get them in a certain grade? I love those sets and can see why they are so addictive.
  • That could be a very expensive disease.

  • The sad part is this disease is incurable.

Pace yourself and enjoy the ride. I'm so glad I decided to move my focus from modern and reaquaint myself with my vintage. I can't believe how close I'm getting to finishing my T206 Superbas. I've also made some recent strides towards the T205s. image

edited to remove redundancy in the last sentence.

Friend of mine just picked up over 100 of them in no less than EX condition. They will all be graded. Seriously, looks like he may even have a few that will nm/mt grades.
  • I dont have any master plans just yet. I have so far bought 3 of them in the past 10 days or so. For now, im sticking with low grade commons with colors that appeal to me (love the oranges and yellows). Who knows what direction this newfound obsession will take, but like a previous poster said....they are mini works of art. They are BY FAR more interesting to look at than any "modern" card I have ever collected, especially with the wear each exhibits. I will post a few pics in a few days or so.

Check out this thread: 41GoudeyGuy It was very well written and very enlightening for anyone willing to try to tame the beast.
  • Admitting you have a problem means absolutely nothing with this addiction. Trust me, I know exactly how you feel. My most recent lesson is that I can not control myself. I once thought that finishing the set would be a cure but now realize that the T205 set is right there waiting to fill the void. Boy do I have a problem.

Superb read!!! This is exactly the "condition" that I think has afflicted me. I need guidlines, I need structure. Step 1 is to not purchase any cards on credit....check. Step 2 is to only buy PSA 1's, 2's, and 3's....maybe an occasional 4 that slips through the cracks on the bay.....Already screwed that up with a T206 buyback card! Step 3 is to only buy cards with the vivid colors that I so desperately am addicted to, no drab browns, greens, or blood reds......check. Any other advice from a fellow addict would be much appreciated. I REALLY have no idea what im doing at this point!

There can be an exception to this rule, but that would be ONLY use credit for a card if you are going to quickly flip it and are DEAD CERTAIN you will make a profit that makes the juice worth the squeeze. This happens so infrequently (maybe once or twice for me on coins) that you can basically disregard it. Anyway, here is a photograph of my T206 buyback. A scan just seems too "cold" for a card of this nature.

I nominate this for understatement of the year. Anyone who begins to pull on The Monster's tail obviously does not fully comprehend the teeth this beast has.

The Monster has you. You may not know it yet but you are under it's control. You may think you have a plan but any limitations you have placed on yourself are simply illusions put in place by The Monster to allow you to believe what you want to believe.

Enjoy the ride. Try to delay the inevitable if you must. Like a Tractor Beam, you are being pulled in without hope of escape.

Perfect example of libel. This comment has zero relevance to this thread and is posted with the sole intention of trying to damage my reputation. Unreal that CU allows this to happen.

Ummm...virtually every one of your own posts over the past few months has already done that.
  • Libel/slander has not occured unless you can proved that the statements are false AND have caused you financial damage. False statements alone will not hold water in court or else the courts would be filled with cases of "Your breath stanks"
