Columbian Expo Medals - Original Roll of HK-222

A true rarity in exonumia. MIght be the only remaining original roll of these. HK-222 - Liberty Head medal. 20 medals. Aluminum. 35mm. All high relief. $5000.

If I have 20 people interested in these at $250 each, I would break up the roll, as much as I'd hate to. I think this is a numismatic treasure as a complete roll.

So far, those interested are:

Tdec1000
waterzooey
joz350
morgansforever
dantheman984
zubie

Anybody else that would be interested in a single piece?

Actually, by the time these were produced, the value of aluminum was about equivelent to silver.

I agree image I would love to have a roll like that, but I really don't know enough about these to justify pulling the trigger now, although it is tempting image Would hope that this roll is still intact 5, 10, 25 years from now just in case I do learn enough about these and end up really wanting an item like this in my collection... but i bet it would cost me much more then image Hope someone takes the whole deal.

not to question the OP as I hear he knows a lot about this stuff, but how do we know this is an original roll? Does the roll have something stamped on it saying Columbian Expo or something

Technically, we don't. The medals don't even say Columbian Exposition. However, I have seen another roll like this being torn apart on ebay as they were sold off individually so there were at least two identical rolls from two different sources. Yes, these could have been rolled years later by someone, but not likely. And the fact that at the end of the roll near the tear is "20" likely so they could keep track of how many. I doubt this would have been done by someone re-rolling them later.
