Newp....Bought 15.5 grams of the yellow stuff today.

Walked into the local B&M today with $4,000 and high hopes of spending it all. Walked out with this and $3375 and was slightly dissapointed. Its getting so much harder for me to find pandas I need for my collection! This is a better date half ouncer that was needed. Pretty coin.

  • I can never understand the appeal of those Pandas personally. I mean why give your hard earned AMERICAN dollars in support of a culture that has been the primary instrument of American demise? I would buy any bullion coin before a Panda.

Support of a culture? What are you talking about? Please explain how buying Chinese gold coins supports their culture or country. Sending a few pieces of paper and ink over to China in exchange for a precious commodity of theirs is "supporting" them? Really? You going into Walmart on a regular basis supports them more than my buying their GOLD coins. Take a good look around next time you are in ANY retail store. Chances are you are surrounded by China's merchandise. In fact, i'd bet my next 10 paychecks that you have at least 100 items in your possesion that were made in that culture of "American demise". Next time use your head before you post on a subject you are clearly ignorant about.
  • Why support the enemies of America more than we need to? i am just saying...

If I give you 500 sheet of paper in exchange for all the food in your house, am I supporting you or robbing you? If I gave you 10 sheets of paper for a 1 oz gold eagle you may own, am I supporting you or robbing you? Do you understand now? China got 6 small sheets of green paper, and Gecko got 1/2 ounce of pure gold. Who did better, me or China?

Do you think China became the powerhouse it is today from sales of gold pandas? image It has become a wealthy nation because of sales of retail goods that can be found all over this country's stores. 300 million Chinese wont be waking up to go make gold pandas tomorrow, they will be making footballs, TV's, coffee makers, your kid's toys, clothes, parts for your next car (even if its a domestic), and a myriad of millions of other objects that Americans have decided not to make anymore. You own hundreds, if not thousands of Chinese made items as do I and every other person in this country. You "support" them everytime you go shopping. Buying a gold panda, or 2 million gold pandas does not "support" them at all. In fact it actually "robs" them of their precious resources. Please get that part right at least.

Let's boycott all coins from every country that ever did anything nasty to anybody.

This is incorrect! It would be naive to think the Chinese will just hang on to your sheets of paper while seeing you walk away with their gold! Please don't underestimate the Chinese, 'cause they could use your sheets of paper to purchase raw gold from sources all over the world. In the end, you are not robbing anyone!

The premium over spot that you paid for those pandas is a clear evidence of "support". This premium is a profit that can be used to purchase additional raw gold to mint more pandas. Or god knows if this profit would be used to hack into the Pentagon. So the part of "supporting China" is correct!

Yeah right! Don't assume because a few people like to shop at Walmart then everybody must shop at Walmart! I know people who refused to shop at Walmart, and I also know people who refused to buy a Sony HDTV because it was esembled in China.

Fellas, leave the tight pants to the ladies. If I can count the coins in your pockets you better use them to call a tailor. Stay thirsty my friends......

  • $625 for a nice half ounce piece seems pretty cheap these days.

It won't be long before you'll have to pay 4 figures to pick one up.

    Get'em while you can.......
  • I am just saying that in the case of gold bullion we have so many other great choices. Why not buy AGEs or Buffs or Maples? God knows, if I could find a way to cheaply avoid Chinese goods in other aspects of my life I would do so.

However, Gecko is right in that we are already too far gone in this country with regard to having exported all our jobs to China. It is really sad that it has come to this.

China currently has about 1.4 trillion of our sheets of paper that they would LOVE to dump if they felt they could do it without hurting themselves in the process. Their biggest concern, much like the concerns of many PM bulls, is the devaluation of those sheets of paper. They even now realize what a bad deal our currency is! So again, I stand by my statement that paper for gold is always a winner for the guy who walks away with the metal. The guy who gets the paper, well he can either start a fire or wipe his......you know.image
  • I find it very interesting that America continues to "blame" other nations. China is not the culprit, and purchasing Pandas does not represent support for China. If we don't purchase Pandas do you believe it will somehow even the playing field?

The teams have taken the field but the good ole USA is playing uphill, with no running back and no defense. The US can't compete against this team because of EPA, OSHA, Regulation, High Labor Costs, High Taxes, ETC. Level that playing field and I'll bet for our side everytime.

Free trade WITH a level playing field is all that is required. Until then, buy gold and silver from any country to atleast give yourself a chance to win in overtime. image It's called FREE TRADE.

It seems like it would help China but actually I think it hurts them as they lose those coins to foreigners. Just like if the Chinese bought up all of the US gold coins, it would hurt us.

BTW one thing I would be worried about is counterfeit gold, I notice someone posted a panda coin that looked fake to me. China could always crank up the presses on these if they wanted as well, I doubt they will but I wouldn't be surprised to see great fakes in the future.
