BONGO HURTLES ALONG THE RAIN SODDEN HIGHWAY OF LIFE ON UNDERINFLATED BALD RETREAD TIRES
<< <i>Did you ask BiddlesBank? >>
whos he?
I say yes.
I'm not crazy about the look on the obverse, across Liberty's cheek and hair curls and also the streaks on the reverse.
I would much rather spend that kind of money (NGC 65 star) on an early date CBH (1807 - 1814) with a nicer look, but then again that's just me.
Many members on this forum that now it cannot fit in my signature. Please ask for entire list.
I think the star means it was graded by the night crew
At MS65 this slab to me looks like a black flag roach motel real easy to get in to... real hard to get out of!
<< <i>I don't like the discoloration on Liberty's cheek, at the top of her cap and some of her hair curls. And the same goes for the dark streaks on each side. >>
Must agree with M.F., even if it kills me. Hair curls seem out of place.
I think it's an O-113, with a rev used on 1829 O-109a & was used to death. Don't think it's a 65.
Like the tone, but mushy strike & dentils. You should try for better, but what do I know?

Not what I'd want to see in a 65 CBH. Late date bullion coin that toning even looks like a silver eagle. But if this color is what you like, and want to spend what is probably a lot of cash on what looks like an over graded coin........ go for it.

Mark said the two things I was going to point out that I don't like on the coin. I wouldn't buy it.
Fellas, leave the tight pants to the ladies. If I can count the coins in your pockets you better use them to call a tailor. Stay thirsty my friends......

<< <i>It's beautiful, but I love it as an PCGS AU58, and think you'd get buried at MS65 money. That looks like a cheek rub, or at least discoloration that gets dinged at PCGS to AU status. No? >>

I collect all 20th century series except gold including those series that ended there.
more often. The toning is attractive, and don't see any flags indicating AT.
The areas on Liberty's cheek and hair curls which bothered me in the image looked much better in person. As did the obverse streak. The luster, color and eye-appeal were all excellent. I did not look at the reverse.
I barely know the dealer who owns it, but will say that he tends to have very nice/quality coins in his case when I see him set up at shows.
<< <i>While glancing in/through a dealer's showcase at the FUN show here in Orlando today, I happened upon and instantly recognized the coin which is the subject of this thread.

Well if Mark thinks it looks good that's good enough for me.

I very much appreciate that kind sentiment. I only saw the obverse through the show case, however, and just wanted to report that the coin looked better than in the images. I didn't get a sufficient look at it to form a grade opinion.
That said, I would look for a coin in this grade range and cost range with a much better strike--personal preference.
The uneven toning doesn't knock my socks off for the price.
I would look for a different piece if looking for a gem CBH.
And you know, he is one smart man that stman.
No doubt it looks better in hand than in a picture.
When in doubt - don't!
<< <i>My guess is that coin looks a whole lot better in hand. Just a hunch. MJ >>
Yes, the seller has a good eye and nice coins and that was my hunch

I never said AT. From my experiences with napkin toning, this is the color scheme that starts and will continue to progress unless removed from the napkin.
