Have you purchased or sold gold bullion in the last 3 weeks

Have you purchased or sold gold bullion in the last 3 weeks? If so, please post whether you bought or sold and if you are willing, please provide an idea as to the quantity involved.

The reason I ask this question relates to something I was told by my local B&M. He said that until several weeks ago his store had an almost equal distribution between buyers and sellers of gold. However, that has now changed and he has more people coming in to sell than to buy. However, he also finds that the individual buyers are purchasing larger amounts of gold whereas the individual sellers are selling smaller amounts of gold.

I am always interested in market sentiment. I know that the results from a single B&M are not representative of the marketplace. That is why I am asking this question to a large and geographically diversified group.

Thanks,

Planchet

  • I bought 2 GAE proofs right before Christmas. One was a $10 1/4oz piece and the other was a $25 1/2oz piece.

Bought both silver and gold. While I won't post the amount, it was in a 1:50 ratio. MJ

I bought a single piece of gold. It was a 1984 gold panda 1/2 oz coin. Since it was a better date, and the price was in line with fair market value, and I needed it for my panda set, I snagged it. However, I did not go out of my way to get it. I have a very "idle" mindset right now about gold. Unless its something very esoteric, im gonna wait on the sidelines for a bit.

Yes, purchased and continue to do so.
When I see the price of gasoline go up (six cents this week) while the price of gold is even or slightly down- I buy.

I think gold is a bargain as I look forward (without looking too much in the rearview mirror at past prices).

"Saving my cash until it turns into dirt"???
  • Here's what I bought 3 weeks ago:

The asking price was $475 for the $10 piece and $875 for the $25. I had a $50 off coupon so I got both pieces for $1312 delivered.

Not cheap but these proofs have been bringing strong money for some time and I thought the price was very fair.

    An NEN purchase.

I didn't buy or sell any PMs in the last three weeks. I was regrouping after a BING cashback fueled PM buying binge from Nov 20 to Dec 10.

  • Sold an MS65 $20 Saint in the past 2 weeks. Will sell last 1oz proof Buffalo next. I like to only have GAE's, no numsimatic gold coins. Plan to buy more silver throughout the next few months....if the price would kindly drop a few dollars, which I think it will this month.
That's my post for this year.

About a month ago I had lot more buyers (than sellers) for gold/ silver during the last rise (couldnt fill demand), then after the large pull back I had a lot more sellers , few buying except for a few of my stronger customers who buy all along. And it was mostly gold they were wanting, not silver , the silver had to be sold here on BST or shipped out. This past week, people selling has slowed down a little(except scrap), an nobody is buying PM's locally, especially silver. A occasional small gold coin will sell, but nothing larger.

10th eagle. But I'm up to about 125 oz of silver in the same period of time.
