I didn't think my dad had such a good taste on PM/coins. (lots of pics!)

I just got back from my "honeymoon" in Italy (actually I went back home to get married and had no honeymoon )
I finally had the chance to see my dad's collection. I saw it once long time ago but didn't have idea of the value of it since I started collecting last year.
Here it is part of his collection. I think it is amazing and wanted to post it here for your comments.
Since they are almost all gold coins I thought this may be its place in this forum.
I know nothing about most of his coins and didn't have enough time to talk with him about them. Sorry if you want more info.

Does he need another son?
Knowledge is the enemy of fear
Many members on this forum that now it cannot fit in my signature. Please ask for entire list.
<< <i>Wow, very nice.
Does he need another son? >>
I am trying to hide it from his other son!
<< <i>Your fathers collection IS AMAZING! Lots of different things to look at. Very nice. >>
I didn't have time to take pics of the silver coins, circulated ones, italian mint sets and commemorative coins.
I had no idea it was that big and varied. I was astonished when I saw it.

<< <i>I love raw gold, but he's risking cabinet friction--especially with gold. Have you (or he) thought about cointainers or some kind of flip for them? >>
I am worried too but he is an old collector and he is used to touch his coins. He was inquiring why I was using cotton gloves to go throught the collection.
Also, the containers (like the airtites) in Italy are not as good as they are here in the US. I will bring some of them during my next trip.
<< <i>Very nice. I especially like some of the early 20th century Italian coins. >>
I do too.
The one I have on my signature is the Vetta d'Italia, only 5000 pcs minted back in 1925.
It is chased by all his friends at the coin club.
And I love also the one with the lictor's fasces (Lire 100) that is called the Fascione (big sheaf/bundle)

Please post the other part of your dad's collection when you get a chance.
What are the coins in the last red tray top left?

What are the coins in the last red tray top left? >>
They should be part of a set (not sure if it is complete) of silver coins minted by the Medici's in Florence.
<< <i>Very nice but that Panda looks strange. I thought they all had face values on them. I know most of the fakes do not include the Denom. >>
I thought the same, AgBlox, and I was about to PM Gecko while I was in Italy.
Then, I searched on the internet and found out that Pandas in 1982 didn't have face value. Maybe because it was the first year. Who knows...
I knew it would happen.
<< <i>Very Cool! Are some of those ancient Venetian gold coins? Wowser!! >>
Thanks. Yes, there are a couple of gold Zecchinos on the first picture of the red tray.
They are together with the Fiorinos (one of those has the symbol of my family - unfortunately I didn't flip it and it cannot be seen)
Very impressive! Thanks for sharing the pics...

I really love the early hammered stuff too. If you have more detailed pictures, you could post it on the Darkside (foreign and ancient coins forum); they'd love to see it.
How's the baby?
"Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you." -Luke 11:9
"Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God is one LORD: And thou shalt love the LORD thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy might." -Deut. 6:4-5
"For the LORD is our judge, the LORD is our lawgiver, the LORD is our king; He will save us." -Isaiah 33:22
I believe the Panda to be the real deal. The 82 had the kinji script as shown. The 83 on, shows the English denomination as we know it now.
The pictured coin is the lowest mintage of that year--The half ounce.
1 oz 15,815 Minted.
1/2 oz 13,300
1/4 oz 40,100
1/10 75,100
