Did Anyone see...

The episode of Pawn Stars/

guy inherited a coin collection from his grandfather and in it were 3 buttons. one was the 1776 inauguration button for GW and 2 other GW buttons from that period.

The owner had a expert come in and see if they were real, they were he put a value on them individually of 1500, 3-4k, and 6-8k for the INauguration button.

Rick the co owner of the pawn shop realized the guy didn't have a clue of thier significance or thier worth, and basically said there isn't a huge market for them, guy was clueless, sold all three for 3k....crazy...

I cringed during the negotiations... you'd think the guy would have followed that expert out the door to ask where to sell them.

If nothing else we learned how a pawn shop is eager to rip you off, when possible.

Yea I saw that and couldn't believe that he sold them,I would have walked out the door and contacted a good auction house.

Grandfather + pawn shop = stolen goods. maybe

I think this guy was the fartherst thing from a thief, lol, don't think he could of stole a dime if someone laid it in front of him.

I just couldn't believe he would sell them for what he did, after the expert said that. I can't fault the pawn shop owner, I mean the "expert" put a suggested retail price on them, and the guy acted like he still didn't have a clue. Like someone said, I would of been like a dog on a leash following that guy out.

It is amazing how ripoff artists con people everyday. That is one reason I no longer go to B&M shops. I cannot stand to hear them lie to old folk and literally steal their old possessions. Cheers, RickO

"Cash money $100 bills today" I believe thats the line the old man uses, that phrase in a lot of people's mind is better than waiting for a check in 6 months and the IRS in a year image

If an expert tells him what it is worth, and he still chooses to sell it for whatever amount, I have no sympathy for him and hold no malice for the buyer.

You gotta realize this is Nevada and these gamblaholics want quick cash to go blow in the casino. That money was probably blown by the end of the day. Maybe he owed a loan shark

I think he was in need of money or else even after knowing the market price he wouldn't have sold for so less...
