<< <i>Those thinking that gold won't "get them anywhere" should talk to some of the Viet refugees who sold me gold Taels back in the 70's.
Gold allowed them to stay on the boat. No gold got them a swim.

    Consider one thing.

Gasoline is STILL 30 cents a gallon in the same money we used when the PUMP PRICE was 30 cents.

    All else is chaff. >>

edited because it isn't worth it.
  • I've mentioned this before, but I wonder how many of you that are stocking PMs and guns for the apocalypse, something that probably isn't going to happen(notice I said probably, not "never," or "unlikey,"just it "probably " won't happen) are fully funded for all of lifes contingencies that do happen unemployment, disability, nursing home expenses. We "probably" won't be playing Mad Max on the freeways in LA anytime soon, but the before mentioned examples, or combinations of, are things that "probably" will happen.image

yellowkid - from what I hear it will be happening in LA before the rest of the U.S. Isn't Cali out of money and water - and what else? I certainly am not prepared for all of what a monetary collapse would bring. The thought of such a thing chills my spine.

I kinda agree with moonshine, except that it's happening as we speak, and continues to escalate every day. There has been a gradual coarsening of our society for decades. It doesn't exist until it comes to your neighborhood, but it's everywhere.

OTOH, yellowkid has some good points as well. You have to consider everything, and as Gilda Radner said, "it's always something". The home defense thing with violent force is simply becoming another reality. Best to be somewhat prepared than not at all.

  • Wow a PS-90, I wonder what one would think of my P-90 slapping SS-190. BTW, if it hit the fan and worse came to worse, my dragon skin armor (thanks NSA) would stop SS-195 or SS-197 or 198, no problemo it stops AP SS-190. Dude I hope you have 5k plus rounds of 5.7 stock piled as that ammo isn't relatively available on a battlefield and I hope you have a back up that shoots 5.56 7.62x51 or even 7.62x39. I have owned a P-90 for years and NEVER deployed it in combat or peacetime as the round is okay, but nothing to brag about. I HAVE seen it in action and it's stopping power is week! It just travels too fast with no expansion or fragmenting. To each their own I guess, but that firearm class 2 or title 1 doesn't impress me! Right now it is a cheap and fun alternative to 5.56 SS-109. Not trying to be funny, his comment was dumb a if he really believes he is gonna take what he needs that is just plain stupid.
  • TexasNationals and cinman14 .... from the way your post(s) sound ... It is your type that we will be waiting for to "stop by".

Hey TOOL BAG when did I say I was going to use force to take what I want, I'll cross that bridge if, and only if I have too.

Edited, if that is your gun of choice, put a damn sling on it. You obviously have no military background.
  • Also forgot, PT-96's are known to break locking blocks every 2k rounds, just something to think out.

Something must act as a medium of exchange be it gold, silver, barter, etc.

Tex, give it a rest. I don't care how good you are or how many superior weapons you have, all it takes is one unexpected incident or one lucky shot and you are neutralized just the same. You should know as well as anyone that discipline and preparation are as important, or more - than sheer firepower.

Better yet, stay out of the way and have a plan.

Yepper. For all you jarhead wannabes, try an afternoon of paintball with some skilled players and you will see how good you are at combat scenarios. You can rent the equipment, buy some ammo and have a pretty fun time and girls do it too. It will also give you a very good assessment of your skill relative to some nonmilitary personnel with nonlethal weaponry and it will give you a quick taste of personal combat with weapons (hey, the other guys shoot back!). As 'ski states, it's much better to appear the noncombatant and have a plan. Oh yes, do take the concealed handgun license classes and get your license to carry.

Ohh, I love paintball. I once "neutralized" two opponents without firing a shot. I snuck up on them and gave them the option of being captured or shot. Its a lot easier to sneek up on a human than it is a deer.image
