The grass is always greener...

I really, really wish I was either a U.K. metal detectorist or an Australian nugget hunter. I almost can't even go to youtube anymore to watch videos from those two countries-- it makes me want to fly out tomorrow! I think if I had my pick, UK detectorists have it pretty sweet. I'm not sure what getting permission to hunt on farms is like but with tools like Pre-tagged Google maps with archeological sites on them and a MUCH friendlier attitude towards metal detectorists, I think I'd love hunting there. Here in the states, when someone asks me if I've "found any buried treasure", it almost seems condescending. In the UK, it could (and has) actually happened.

    Here in the states, most detectorists that DO find buried treasure, do not talk about it. Cheers, RickO
