I have set up 4 polls on the board covering what I believed to be the key issues after reading through the complete threads again. Results will be turned in to David Hall sometime Monday afternoon. Please vote your preference in each of the polls.
I don't agree with keeping the original type sets and then adding more type sets next to them. If we keep adding specialized type sets then everyone can be #1 in your own specialized set. That isn't exactly the point.
I do agree with those who think the composition of the old sets was good. If they want to add a few more varieties in, I'm cool with that too, but don't want to see varieties removed from the set.... I mean come on, what happened... did they suddenly cease being varieties?
I don't think that extending the 1959 to present sets back to 1950 is a really big issue. The 59 to present sets were a bit short and could use a few extra coins.
BUT.... those extra coins SHOULD NOT be a slew of State Quarters. Those who want a Registry Set of State Quarters alredy have one. Are the individual quarters each a new variety of coin, I'd say yes, but they just don't fit in with the idea of collection various and assorted type coins.
I'm glad to see that PCGS is listening to this debate and will hopefully do the right thing. It seems a good majority of folk are making the same requests, so this shouldn't be a problem.
