How can you determine the age of a poured bar?

I posed this question in another thread, but didn't receive an answer...so I thought I'd try my own thread.
I have a few Engelhard bars I received in trade, and a couple are very cool, and appear to be old. They do have serial numbers, but I can't seem to find anywhere to do a S/N search.
Any ideas?

Some resident silver buffs can likely give you a date range, and/or tell you if they're worth a premium to regular bars.

A couple have even different looks, kind of older. I'll take pictures tonight...I'm really jazzed by these...kinda feels like my first Peace Dollar!

Are the serial numbers in Roman Numerals?

In THIS instance, size matters! The 100 and 10oz bars bring the smallest (almost zero) premium. The 5oz brings a modest premium. The 3oz bring a decent premium. And the 4oz and 7oz bring obscene premiums (3-4x melt).
