Which Registry Set Do You Like The Least?

If you were able to delete a registry set, which one would it be and why?

For me it would be the Peace Dollar Registry Set. This is because I never really cared for the design (was a follow-up to the Morgan Dollar, which can't be beat), and all of the dollar coins I have seen never had any solid strikes or attractive luster. Never really impressed me. Now the Morgans on the other hand....

Sincerely,

Chris

I really think every series has interesting features for advanced collectors of the series. So, I would keep them all. But if you really pressed me, I would say goodbye to Sacs. For some reason, I just don't appreciate them. Maybe from all the hype surrounding the Goodacres.

  • I'd also get rid of the phantom sets. Sure an article discussing where historic sets might fit would be interesting. However estimated grades just don't belong in the Registry.

American Eagles. It is tedious looking at all those MS69s.

It's funny that when you actually try to put an MS69 set together those coins seem so incredibly scarce! image

Currently only 73 complete MS69 sets are possible (1994 MS69 pop is at 73).

I know some folks don't like them, but it really is a fun set.

Of course I guess I'm biased as they were the first coins I ever collected. image

  • The phantom sets. I don't have any sets under their category, but I see how they discourage great collections like tradedollarnuts.

  • PCGS entering sets that are in other services holder, like the Eliasberg PR Trade set tha TDN mentioned, or the Eliasberg PR gold sets.

If I were able to delete a set, it would be the Legend Collection of Trade Dollars. Why? 'Cuz it would give someone else a chance to come close... With TDN's set there, no one would even be able to come close.

  • If the majority of the members here that have registry sets dislike the Phantom Sets, would it help to conduct a poll similar to the others ones going right now? Would it do any good? Would PCGS listen?

Curse you Red Baron. I have finally completed a set of Sacs worthy of the registry and now you want to do away with them.
Nay I say, Nay and Nay again. Just kidding, although I wish they would finally all get together and settle the Goodacre issues. Mark
