1979 O-Pee-Chee Hockey card size

I just picked up a 1979 O-Pee-Chee Gretzky and found that its width was about a millimeter shorter (side to side) than a few 1979 Topps Hockey cards I had to compare it to (since I do not have any other 1979 O-Pee -Chee to compare to). I also had a few 1983 O-Pee-Chee hockey cards from packs I opened a while back to compare with - and these seem to have the same shorter width as the 1979 Gretzky. Can somebody confirm if indeed the 1979 O-Pee-Chee hockey cards were smaller in this sense than the 1979 Topps hockey cards? Thanks.

thanks for replying jimrad, and I know that the 2 1/2" by 3 1/2' was the standard size for Topps cards, but I guess I am asking if the O-Pee-Chee hockey were a bit smaller than that in width.

Post up a scan.. If it's a OPC you should be able to tell if it was trimmed by looking at the edges, are they rough cut?

I just sent it out for grading today. The edges seemed fine. Again since my legit 1983 O-Pee-Chee hockey also had the same slightly short width as this 1979 Gretzky, I am thinking this might be normal. Just wondering if anyone is familiar with this who can tell me for sure.
  • If the edges were clean cut, PSA will reject them. Since they were cut, aftermarket from a factory sheet. BGS will still grade them, even if you want to trim them some more to get the 9.5.
