What do you think of this 1888-P Morgan?

The obverse looks better than the images. The reverse has some hits over 'we trust'. They aren't as severe as they appear in the image, but they are concentrated in that one area.

What do you think this would grade? Thanks!

64 or 65.

I'm not sure about the hits at the top of the reverse, but the cheek looks nice.

It's hard to tell from internet pictures, ya know?

I agree 64 no way 65.

You honestly never know though. I have seen 65's that look like that and I have seen 64's that look better.

Very nice coin, but unfortunately, I feel the mark on the reverse will limit the grade to MS64.

I suck at grading but I'll guess MS64...........

Does the lower ear show any doubling to the south ? with the clash marks on the neck and chin it looks similar to Vam 11 or Vam 11a..........?

I'd say a high end MS64 ~ I've seen some close to this one in MS65 holders, but not lately. It's a good one nonetheless.

64, like the clashing....Check the ear and see if it is an 11A, doesn't look like it but it might be.

I lean to the 64 range, the reverse marks are just too severe to give 65 IMO.

I think a 64... a NICE 64, to be sure... those Rev nicks, I think, would preclude a 65, all else considered.

Killer luster but only MS63 due to the reverse showing the big hit above the t in trust.

MS-64 if that hit wasn't there, it would easily be 65

Thanks for the opinions everyone. The lighting highlighted the reverse hit to the extreme. Should have tried another angle. In hand, it's not as bad as the image shows. I took a quick scan to give another view.

The obverse looks very nice and I was hoping it would carry the reverse hit. 1888-P doesn't see a premium until MS65. Thought it might have a shot, but I think I'll just set it aside for a while.
