Monday, a normal trading day and then we shall.....

see what we shall see as to reality. The trouble,

as I see it is that the market is overpriced. 200 banks

will fail and 1000 banks are on the danger list. The FDIC

is using its last 35 billion dollar emergency reserves

The great Recession will be with us for several years.

The greatest loss of jobs is with FT and 35% of

the unemployed have been without a job for in excess

of 32 weeks, a new all time record. The rise in gold makes

me nervous, the enormous debt is unrepayable and the income

for State and Federal coffers is not recovering. As Bush the Father

once correctly said, we are in deep doo doo, and it appears that

there is no way out but a very long, hard and painful path, strewn with

boulders, a new world war or a partial default on Fed and State debt.

I see families survive by selling assets, cutting expenses and family members

helping family members, as much as they are able too. Stop buying all the crap

from China and start looking for, made in the USA labels. The job you save, may

be your own.

  • I looked over the Christmas sale adds today twice and not a single one of them had the word Christmas any where to be seen. They displayed red, green and white colors and showed other indications of Christmas, but not one mention of Christmas on the adds. Even the Christmas trees they were selling, they are calling scottsdale trees or colorado trees. When they completely wipe out Christmas in the minds of their customer base then what will be the incentive for people to buy Christmas presents, there will be no such thing. What a business model, destroy the thing that has fed you well for decades. Wow!

Italy and France and even Japan and Germany do not bother me,

except for the cars. These Countries are not drowning the USA in

everything and are not posing a military and political threat to the Pacific

region, as China is starting to do.

Thank you GSA! What about a pair of leather shoes next time? image

I agree Bear, China is the scariest one. It's going to flood us all, either with its merchandise or with its people.
  • Anyone notice or have any comments regarding my comments on the lack of "Christmas" in the Christmas adds: above. Just curious if I'm the only one who notes this strange
    evolving movement.

There is nothing "Christian" about evergreen trees or boughs of holly.

There is nothing "Christian" about Santa. Or elves. Or stockings.

There is nothing "Christian" about mistletoe. Or Yule logs, sleigh bells, or snow men.

There is nothing "Christian" about Rudolph or Frosty.

There is nothing "Christian" about nutcrackers, or wrapping paper, or snowflakes.

And there is nothing, absolutely nothing "Christian" about "the lack of 'Christmas' in the Christmas adds (sic)". The idea of conspicuous consumption in the name of religion is absurd.

  • I fully agree with every statement you made Weiss, nevertheless the associations you so decisively laid out have for decades been in existence. My point was the movement of our culture movers/shakers have been on what seems to be a steady march to wipe out the word Christmas from what they created as Christmas. It served them (businesses) well for over 100 years and now they seem hll bent on wiping the slate clean of it altogether.
